Ana Miramontes, 41, was named by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. While the coroner would not release the name of the man because next of kin had not been notified, the California Highway Patrol identified him as Daniel Miramontes who is in his 40s. The fatal collision occurred on the eastbound I-10 freeway at Via Verde around 2:08 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing a black minivan rear end a white sedan, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. Both Ana Miramontes and Daniel Miramontes occupied the white sedan that was rear ended. They both died at the scene, according to California Highway Patrol officer Xavier Becerra. Both fatal victims were pronounced dead at the scene at 2:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The crash initially affected the No. 2, 3 and 4 traffic lanes. CHP officers temporarily had all lanes blocked during the investigation. Eventually all lanes, except for the No. 1 lane, remained closed. A good Samaritan attempted to perform CPR on at least one person injured in the crash who was reportedly down in lanes of traffic, according to CHP traffic logs. Two others were injured in the crash: an 18-year-old man who suffered major injuries and a 16-year-old male who suffered moderate injuries were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, according to the CHP. Initial reports from the scene indicated that one person, possibly two people, ran from the crash and into the nearby foothills. The CHP requested assistance from the air in locating a person described as a driver who fled into the foothills, according to CHP traffic logs. It is unclear if the CHP determined if someone actually ran from the crash scene. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter pilot notified the Los Angeles County Fire Department of a body recovery mission in the Mount Baldy area just before 9 a.m. June 7. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - The 52-year-old detainee questioned in the shooting death of an 83-year-old man was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. John McHugh, a Temple City man, is accused of shooting his father, said Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The father, Michael Patrick McHugh, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
The shooting occurred in the 4900 block of Halifax Road just after 3 p.m. April 24. Deputies responding to the gunshot victim call found Michael McHugh suffering from a wound to the upper torso. He died at the scene, investigators said. John McHugh was detained at the scene. Booking records show McHugh was arrested at 4:30 p.m. April 24. He is being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles in lieu of $2.03 million bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Alhambra Superior Court April 28. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - The investigation continues into the death of a man whose body was found near a freeway on ramp in Azusa Thursday afternoon. Carlos Zuniga Medina, 29, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died from gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide. The body was found just before 3:18 p.m. April 9 on the Vernon Avenue on ramp. Medina was declared dead on arrival, according to Dispatch Supervisor Troy of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A Sig Alert for the on ramp from Vernon Avenue to the eastbound 210 freeway was initiated at 3:53 p.m. Thursday. The Sig Alert was canceled at 1:14 a.m. Friday, according to Officer Patrick Kimball of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center.
April 8, police were called to a reported shooting victim at that same location after 10 p.m. No victim had been found. It is unclear if Wednesday nights call and Thursday nights discovery of a dead man are connected. The California Highway Patrol Investigative Services unit is determining the circumstances of the shooting, according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Officer. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - A passerby discovered the body of a male about 10 yards off the side of San Gabriel Canyon Road near mile marker 37 Saturday morning, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. Authorities were called to San Gabriel Canyon Road at mile marker 37 April 11 Around 11:30 a.m. A cyclist somehow found the remains, which may have been there for a longer period of time a short distance from the road, according to Sgt. Hayes of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station.
It initially appears that the male died of natural causes. There appeared to be nothing suspicious, Hayes told SGV CityWatch. There is no identification yet for the body which is listed as a John Doe, according to Nani Cholakians of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Marvin Watkins, 57, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He was found dead on a sidewalk. Officers responded to Viewpoint Circle near Skyview Circle to investigate a gun fire call just before 7 p.m. March 23. Family members of the victim reported the shooting, Pomona Police said in a written statement. The Pomona Police department deemed the death a homicide, but the county coroner has yet to conduct an autopsy, according to public records. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085. The Cause of the Shooting Has Not Been Shared. Miaoxian Liu, 47, died from blunt force trauma. Her death was listed as suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Firefighters and deputies responded to the 18900 block of Daisetta Street just before 8:30 a.m. Monday. The woman was declared dead at the scene. SGV CityWatch was sent a screenshot of the death scene, likely moments after Liu took her own life.
The photo, originally shared on a Facebook information page for Rowland Heights, showed Liu’s body near a staircase on the ground level of a shopping complex. A man likely sweeping the walkway stood over Liu’s body. Liu, who suffered from depression, was listed as a missing person March 21 and was sought by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Missing Person’s Detail. on March 22, deputies reported she was found. |
