Richard Martinez was caught as he was leaving his home in the 10600 block of Reichling Lane around 2 p.m. Martinez is accused of robbing banks in City of Industry, Santa Fe Springs and Whittier, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The three robberies occurred over a three-hour period and featured a demand note and similar suspect and vehicle description: a late-model Chevrolet Camaro convertible. “A search warrant was served at Suspect/Martinez’ residence and numerous items of evidence were recovered, including a loaded pistol gripped shotgun, a loaded 9MM handgun with an extended magazine, and a demand note,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Investigators are trying to determine if Martinez is involved in other bank robberies. Martinez was booked on suspicion of robbery and was additionally booked on suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of two firearms. He is being held in lieu $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the West Covina Court House August 25. Jesus Ramirez-Ramirez allegedly abused the girls while he was a resident of South El Monte. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed three felony counts of lewd acts with a child against Ramirez April 28, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Ramirez reportedly had access to children and based on the allegations there may be additional victims, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Steve Lee Dominguez is accused of shouting racial epithets, driving through a crosswalk against a red light as protesters were crossing and allegedly performed an illegal U-turn to cut off the route of several protesters lawfully crossing the street, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The incident unfolded March 2021 at a Stop Asian Hate rally at Diamond Bar Boulevard and Grand Avenue. The demonstrators were carrying American flags and large signs in support of their cause and were crossing legally in a marked crosswalk, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. “Dominguez allegedly yelled, “Go back to China!” and other racial slurs at the demonstrators,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in a written statement. “One of the victims was an Asian woman carrying a sign that read, “Stop Asian Hate.” Another victim was a minor Black female rally participant who carried a sign that read, “End the Violence Against Asians.” Another person who was cut off in the crosswalk was a 9-year-old child, and Dominguez’s car narrowly missed coming into contact with her and other victims, according to the indictment. No injuries were reported,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. After the confrontation, Dominguez allegedly stopped his vehicle down the road, exited and continue yelling racial epithets and called law enforcement on the protestors. He identified himself as “John Doe” and claimed protestors were blocking the street and he needed to run a red light because protestors were going to trample his car, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Dominguez was scheduled for arraignment May 12 at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. Dominguez faces a statutory maximum of 20 years in federal prison if convicted on the two counts, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in a written statement. Alexander Rashaan Miles, 42, was arraigned April 19 on three counts of committing a lewd and lascivious act with a child under 14 years old and one count of persuading or coercing a minor to participate in child pornography. He has pleaded not guilty, according to information from the Los Angeles Superior Court. Miles was arrested April 15 and booked at the Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station. Through the investigation, detectives believe he was speaking to many victims, mostly female. Snapchat was his weapon of choice. March 16, the victim told Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station detectives that a man reached out to her through Snapchat in October and November of 2021. He offered alcohol and narcotics in exchange for explicit pictures and videos of the girl, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Victim’s Bureau, Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Team and FBI worked on the case. Miles was identified as a suspect, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “The suspect is believed to have been a high school basketball coach for several schools in the San Gabriel Valley and a high school basketball referee in the Los Angeles area,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Aerial footage from a broadcast news helicopter showed three crew members walking into Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center after being taken by a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter. Aboard the copter were two pilots, three medics and a doctor from UCLA. MOUNTAINS - A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter crashed in the San Gabriel Mountains injuring the crew aboard Saturday afternoon. The crashed helicopter still poses a fire risk and firefighters have asked all other personnel near the copter to get back, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The helicopter crashed near Highway 39 and East Fork Road. All five crew members were extricated from the crashed helicopter. There was one critical patient, Two with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Jeanette Gallegos, 27, and Justin Joseph, 28, were identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Deputies responded to the 9200 block of Pentland Street on a report of domestic violence with a gunshot victim. Deputies discovered a 27-year-old woman suffering multiple gunshot wounds and 28-year-old man suffer a likely self-inflicted wound. Both died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “Three juveniles, ranging in age from 5 to 11, were removed from the home unharmed upon the deputies’ arrival. The three lived in the home and are believed to be the children of the deceased female victim,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. A handgun was recovered at the scene. Deputies accuse the juveniles of hitting gas stations and convenience stores in City of Industry, Bellflower, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Whittier and Downey, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The department’s Major Crimes Bureau – Metro Detail deputies began investigating robberies in Norwalk and City of Industry December 14. Detectives learned that as many as two suspects, described as Black males, committed robberies with the use of a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A vehicle description and license plate were obtained, allowing deputies to enter the vehicle into a countywide database, listing it as a “felony vehicle – armed and dangerous,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Shortly after an armed robbery in Bellflower, a patrol deputy located the vehicle. A High-risk stop was conducted and three suspects were arrested. More than $1,000 in cash and evidence linking the juvenile suspects to the crimes was seized. The handgun was not located, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspects remain in custody. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - US Forest Service personnel notified deputies of a dead body discovered along Highway 39 in the San Gabriel Mountains Thursday morning, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s sergeant said.
The body was found off the side of the road along mile marker 21. The body is listed as a John Doe, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Law enforcement was called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Homicide detectives were called to investigate. Initially, detectives believe this to be a natural death, according to Sgt. Patrick Gadut of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The coroner will determine cause of death. Alfonso Guzman Jr., a 26-year-old Duarte man and father of two, was shot dead in his vehicle as he sat parked with his girlfriend on a scenic overlook in the 3300 block of Turnbull Canyon Road around 1 a.m. May 20. His girlfriend suffered injuries not life-threatening, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide detectives announced a $10,000 reward at a November 18 news conference for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Through translation, Guzman’s mother, Maria Ayala pleaded with the community to help catch her son’s killer. “My son was a good son, a good father. He leaves behind two boys, two boys that are suffering and constantly ask about him. They go to school and tell me: ‘mama, daddy is watching over me, he is hugging me. When is he coming?’ When it rains they say: ‘daddy is getting wet. When is he getting down from up there?’ My son was a hardworking person, he was attending school and had many projects planned ahead. As a mother who is dead inside, I beg that if anybody knows something please call. Thank you,” Ayala said. The remains belonged to 51-year-old Miguel King. He died from a gunshot wound to the head. His death is listed as a homicide, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. King’s body was discovered along Glendora Mountain Road near mile marker 1 about 15 feet off the roadway August 14, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. King was initially listed as DOE #14 until coroner investigators were able to identify the body. The body discovered in the mountains is likely the same Miguel King, also age 51, who was listed as a missing person by Sheriff’s detectives. Miguel Angel King was last seen by his family at his Los Angeles home in the 12300 block of Spring Street July 20. He reportedly did not have a history of going missing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The niece of Miguel Angel King started a gofundme page to raise funeral expenses for her uncle. The missing King’s white Toyota hatchback was found abandoned and parked at an Inglewood apartment complex in the 100 block of West Queen Street around 1 p.m. July 24, according to the Los Angeles Times. |
