Initially, the California Highway Patrol reported a collision with a vehicle resulted in the death of Stephen Naftilan. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner revealed he died from acute cardian dysfunction. Naftilan crashed while cycling at 10 a.m. at mile marker 24.10. In a follow-up inquiry, Rodrigo Jimenez of the CHP Baldwin Park Office reported Naftilan "was unable to keep his bicycle upright and the right side of Mr. Doe's bicycle crashed into the asphalt roadway. A passerby and another bicyclist who observed the crash, responded to Mr. Doe and observed he was unresponsive." CPR was administered until Los Angeles County Firefighters arrived. CPR was continued until Naftilan was pronounced dead at 10:52 a.m. Highway 39 from East Fork Road to Roxspring Way was closed until 5:43 p.m. for the investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in Naftilan's death, Jimenez said. Few details are available at the time this post was launched. It is unclear how many bicyclists or vehicles were involved, according to Officer Kendricks of the California Highway Patrol. Firefighters arrived on scene and met with someone who was performing CPR on an injured person, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. Northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 39 between rocks Springs Way in Azusa to East Fork Road are closed for at least three more hours for an investigation, the CHP said. The California Highway Patrol was dispatched to Glendora Mountain Road at mile marker 6.50 around 12:50 a.m. June 8 to a crashed black Mazda Miata. A passerby in a black Honda Accord apparently called authorities to report the crash, according to Officer Moises Marroquin of the CHP Traffic Management Center. Marroquin did not immediately have an estimate on how many feet the vehicle traveled off Glendora Mountain Road. Traffic logs only indicated the vehicle was “far down” off the road. Authorities were waiting for enough daylight to retrieve the body, Marroquin told SGV CityWatch. Michael Bell died from traumatic blunt force to the head and suffered neck trauma. His death was ruled accidental, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Bell was last seen in Ontario driving a white Acura MDX. Authorities tracked his cell phone, which last gave a location somewhere north of Azusa along Highway 39, according to the Chino Police Department. April 14, firefighters and the California Highway Patrol were called by a passerby around 12:45 p.m. to a vehicle discovered over the side of Highway 39 south of Robbs Gulch near mile marker 23.20. Bell died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. Bell was driving north on Highway 39 at an unknown speed. For undetermined reasons, Bell’s Acura veered off the roadway and crashed down an dirt and rock embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol. Bell suffered from undisclosed medical issues and may have been disoriented, according to the Chino Police Department. Michael Bell’s cell phone signal was last tracked to somewhere along Highway 39 in the Azusa Mountains, authorities said Wednesday. Bell suffers from undisclosed medical issues and may be disoriented, according to the Chino Police Department. Bell is 6 feet 3 inches tall, has black hair, blue eyes, and last wore a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan slippers. He is driving a white Acura MDX with license plate DP997WR, according to the Chino Police Department. Aerial footage from a broadcast news helicopter showed three crew members walking into Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center after being taken by a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter. Aboard the copter were two pilots, three medics and a doctor from UCLA. MOUNTAINS - A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter crashed in the San Gabriel Mountains injuring the crew aboard Saturday afternoon. The crashed helicopter still poses a fire risk and firefighters have asked all other personnel near the copter to get back, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The helicopter crashed near Highway 39 and East Fork Road. All five crew members were extricated from the crashed helicopter. There was one critical patient, Two with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The body was found along Mt. Baldy road at mile marker 2.18. A hiker reportedly discovered the body inside a black vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. Los Angeles County Firefighters were called around 7 p.m. A firefighter called the man’s time of death at 7:23 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. It is unclear how long the crash occurred before being discovered. The body was found off the side of the road along mile marker 21. The body is listed as a John Doe, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Law enforcement was called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Homicide detectives were called to investigate. Initially, detectives believe this to be a natural death, according to Sgt. The fire claimed one life, destroyed three mobile home trailers and burned a 10-foot x 10-foot spot of vegetation at Camp Williams Resort, 24210 East Fork Road., November 17. Firefighters were dispatched at 1:04 a.m. and arrived by 1:22 a.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was knocked down at 2:09 a.m. Firefighters made a request for the coroner at 2:24 a.m., Rangel told SGV CityWatch. There is no identification yet for the victim. “No ID yet. It’s probably going to be a while. We don’t even have a gender yet,” according to Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The remains belonged to 51-year-old Miguel King. He died from a gunshot wound to the head. His death is listed as a homicide, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. King’s body was discovered along Glendora Mountain Road near mile marker 1 about 15 feet off the roadway August 14, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. King was initially listed as DOE #14 until coroner investigators were able to identify the body. The body discovered in the mountains is likely the same Miguel King, also age 51, who was listed as a missing person by Sheriff’s detectives. Miguel Angel King was last seen by his family at his Los Angeles home in the 12300 block of Spring Street July 20. He reportedly did not have a history of going missing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The niece of Miguel Angel King started a gofundme page to raise funeral expenses for her uncle. The missing King’s white Toyota hatchback was found abandoned and parked at an Inglewood apartment complex in the 100 block of West Queen Street around 1 p.m. July 24, according to the Los Angeles Times. |
