The envelope was discovered at the City of Hope FLASH building, 2240 Buena Vista St., around 2:31 p.m. The envelope containing the unknown substance was discovered in the mail room at the one-story building, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 100 employees have been evacuated. No injuries or exposure to the substance has been reported. The building is the Facilities, Logistics and Support Hub for City of Hope Duarte. No other information is available. Deputies responded to a call of a woman down near a vehicle at Mountain Avenue and Shrode Avenue around 11:25 a.m. January 5. A handgun was recovered from the scene, according to Sgt. Summers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Initial information indicated the woman was possibly bleeding from the head. There were no other reported victims, Summers said. The woman’s updated condition was not available.
