The two were shot in what is possibly a gang shooting in the 2500 block of Broderick Avenue around 11:41 a.m. Both the man and woman were shot in the upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau. A white vehicle was seen fleeing the area, deputies said. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Two victims were transported to an area hospital in unknown condition. The shooting was reported around 11:41 a.m. in the 2400 block of Broderick Avenue, said Lt. Bell of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Temple Station. A suspect or suspects are still outstanding, Bell said. No suspect description was available. Investigators with the Los Angeles County Fire Department are determining the cause. PREVIOUSLY DUARTE - Several units at a storage facility are on fire, Los Angeles County Firefighters said. At least two units are burning and flames are spreading to multiple units at Mt. Olive Self Storage, 1500 Crestfield Dr., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters have just made entry into the facility and are engaging the fire. The suspects fled Baklava Land Bakery and Café, 1431 Huntington Dr., early in the morning May 29 after being spotted by a deputy who was patrolling the business, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The suspects entered the business by smashing through the glass front doors. The register was dumped in some nearby bushes. A containment search eventually yielded two hiding suspects who were booked on suspicion of burglary. Arrested were 22-year-old Jesse Santoyo and 26-year-old Dion Fredrick. Fredrick and Santoyo were arrested at 2:37 a.m. Fredrick is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic awaiting an appearance at Alhambra Superior Court June 15, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Santoyo was released May 29 and had a scheduled appearance at Alhambra Superior Court May 31. The victim, a 65-year-old man, was carjacked at 7-Eleven, 1430 Mountain Ave., around 4:55 a.m. The victim reported a Hispanic man walked up from behind and took his keys. Then the victim tried to get the keys back, the suspect shoved him to the ground, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The vehicle was recovered in Baldwin Park around 10:55 a.m., deputies said. The suspect is still outstanding. |
