Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor DUARTE - An Eastvale man died Wednesday after metal debris kicked up by a tan truck crashed through the driver’s windshield, the CHP said.
The Eastvale man was struck in the face by the debris around 12:42 p.m. His passenger, a Whittier man, immediately took control of the 2014 Jetta being driven and was able to bring it to a stop on the right shoulder of the Buena Vista Street off ramp, the California Highway Patrol said. Stace Woodward, 24, was identified as the Eastvale man, according to Kristy McKraken of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Woodward, was westbound on the 210 freeway east of Buena Vista Street in the No. 4 lane when the debris went through the windshield. Woodward’s friend attempted CPR, but arriving firefighters declared him dead at the scene, the CHP said. The driver of the tan truck, who was in the No. 3 lane, continued driving. The CHP is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of the tan truck.
