EAST LOS ANGELES - Two vandalism suspects were arrested Sunday after crashing their vehicle while fleeing Monterey Park Police.
Details are few, but the suspects were wanted by Monterey Park Police in connection with a vandalism at a city park, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Monterey Park Police cancelled the pursuit due to the driver’s erratic behavior on the road, according to CHP radio traffic.
A police helicopter located the suspects driving in excess of 100 miles per hour on the westbound 60 freeway into East Los Angeles just after 2 p.m.
On surface streets, the suspect continued fleeing at high speed, driving in opposing lanes and running a vehicle off the road, according to CHP radio traffic.
The suspect vehicle crashed into a traffic sign at North Brannick Avenue and Dozier Street where a brief foot pursuit ensued before the suspects were apprehended by East Los Angeles CHP units and Monterey Park Police.
The Monterey Park Police Department has yet to return calls for information.
