The quake struck about 10 miles east of Ridgecrest at a depth of about 2.5 miles, according to the USGS. There have been no reports of damage or injuries locally. Glendora Mountain Road north of Big Dalton Road to East Fork Road and Glendora Ridge Road from Glendora Mountain to Mt. Baldy Road will close Wednesday, July 3 at 4 p.m. The roads are expected to reopen Friday, July 5 at 10 a.m., according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The above road closures will not affect pedestrian, bicycle or horse traffic. Chantry Flat Road will close Wednesday, July 3 at 8 p.m. and is expected to reopen the morning of July 5, Sierra Madre Police said. Monrovia Canyon Park, 1200 N. Canyon Blvd., will be closed July 3 through July 5, the City of Monrovia said. Written by AARON CASTREJON City Watch Editor LOS ANGELES - Questions remain unanswered after a coroner investigation could not reveal how a missing Arcadia woman died. The cause and manner of death for Wenna Chen, 54, was listed as undetermined. Her coroner case has been closed, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Detectives believed at the time that Chen’s death was possibly a suicide. Chen was last seen November 21 around 8:30 a.m. and failed to show for work the following day. Her family reported her missing November 22, Arcadia Police said. Chen’s silver 2007 Mercedes C280 was found parked at the Arcadia Gold Line Station, 73 E. Santa Clara St., November 25, according to Arcadia Police Sgt. Brett Bourgeous in a previous interview.
The car was towed as evidence and taken to an Azusa tow yard in the 1000 block of West Kirkwall Road where her body was discovered inside the car, according to Lt. Tom Cullen of the Arcadia Police Department in a previous interview. A call to the detective handling the case at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau was not returned. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Homicide detectives located and arrested a 17-year-old boy days after he allegedly shot three people at a West Covina house party, fatally wounding one. The suspect, who remains unnamed due to his age, was found at an undisclosed hospital June 6 after being injured in a possibly-separate shooting, according to Detective Jason Marks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The suspect in a red hat seen in a low-quality photo taken from surveillance video is the gunman, Marks said. Numerous tips led to the suspect’s identification. The teen is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Dennis Bracamonte of La Mirada at a party May 31. Two others were wounded. The gunman was charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon, Marks said.
The shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. A fight erupted prior to the arrival of police. Officers found three victims in a rear yard. Bracamonte was declared dead at the scene. Two male juveniles received gunshot wounds to their legs, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. A female juvenile wound up at a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
