Lydell Purvis, 36, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Purvis’ cause of death, as well as the coroner case status, has been deferred pending additional investigation. Purvis’ body was found around 9 p.m. August 6 and may have been on the mountainside for a couple days, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. Los Angeles County firefighters and U.S. Forest Service firefighters were initially dispatched to Glendora Ridge Motorway and Glendora Mountain Road at 8:11 p.m. for a medical call. The location of the body was possibly along the Glendora Ridge Motorway north of the Azusa “A”, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Glendora Ridge Motorway is a dirt trail running along the top of the mountains and connects Azusa Peak to Glendora Peak. The vehicle was found about 150 feet over the side of San Gabriel Canyon Road at mile marker 32.82 just after 3 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The victim was unconscious, but complained of pelvic pain after regaining consciousness, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Three medics and a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service were lowered to the driver to assess injuries and aid in a hoist. The driver was flown to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment. Homicide detectives want to speak with Ryan Venti who was a resident of the home in the 3600 block of Crooked Creek Drive. Ryan Venti is not a suspect in the deadly fire, according to detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. While still trying to determine the fire’s origin, detectives believe the fire was intentionally set. A family dog also perished in the fire. Linda Venti, 66, and husband John Venti, 75, were identified as the dead couple. After initially describing the acreage as larger, firefighters report the fire has burned 15 acres of the Angeles National Forest near Mt. Baldy Road and Shinn Road. No structures are threatened, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The California Highway Patrol and Claremont Police have Mt. Baldy Road at Fergus Falls blocked to traffic. Two water-dropping helicopters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department are providing assistance with the help of night vision. San Bernardino County firefighters are assisting Los Angeles County Fire, along with the U.S. Forest Service. Cause investigators with the Los Angeles County Fire Department are en route to determine the fire’s start. David Dean Lonigro, 53, was found guilty of three counts of lewd act upon a child and two counts each of oral copulation of a person under 16 and sexual penetration by foreign object, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. One victim was abused between January 1 and December 30, 2007. The second victim was abused between January 30 and February 29, 2016, Santiago said. Lonigro gained access to the girls through family connections, according to Deputy District Attorney Babette Huley. Lonigro is scheduled to be sentenced December 3 in Pomona Superior Court. He faces a maximum of more than 14 years in state prison. |
