The crash was reported to the CHP around 10:29 a.m. December 15. A motorcyclist crashed near mile marker 33.80. A passerby reported the rider was not moving, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. Firefighters with the U.S. Forest Service performed CPR on the rider upon arrival to the scene.
Medics with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau arrived by helicopter and also treated the rider before pronouncing death, according to U.S. Forest Service radio traffic and the CHP. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS – A dead man was found with a single gunshot wound and seated in the passenger seat of a BMW on Highway 39 Friday morning. The body was found near East Fork Road on a turnout along mile marker 24.68. An employee with the U.S. Forest Service discovered the vehicle, according to Lt. Mark Skaggs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. There wasn’t enough evidence yet to confirm how the man received the gunshot wound, Skaggs said.
Only one victim was found, according to a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which sent multiple units, including a battalion chief to the scene. Firefighters were ordered to stage and wait for deputies to clear them in to the scene. The exterior of the BMW showed damage from gunfire, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. The Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau also responded to the scene. Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are investigating. The fire is burning in what is described as a mixed fuels and is slowly creeping uphill. There are no structures threatened at this time, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. County firefighters will be working along with firefighters with the US Forest Service. Fog and a low cloud ceiling is making it difficult for helicopters to respond, firefighters said. The fire was reported just after 2 p.m. along Highway 39 near mile marker 29.36, just north of the Bichota Canyon Trail. The U.S. Forest Service is sending a full brush fire response. The fire is burning in light to medium brush. It is unclear how the fire ignite, but within the last hour, firefighters responded to two calls of a vehicle that crashed in the nearby vicinity. A vehicle crashed around 1:22 p.m. near Crustal Lake Road. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor UPDATE, 1:52 a.m.: No victims were found after a thorough search of the mountainside by a helicopter and the San Dimas Search and Rescue Team. MOUNTAINS - Firefighters are continuing to search for victims after a vehicle was found crashed about 200 feet over Glendora Mountain Road. Deputies and the California Highway Patrol were alerted to the crash from information through OnStar, which alerted authorities to a rollover crash with airbag deployment, according to CHP radio traffic. The crash is reported on Glendora Mountain Road south of Glendora Ridge Road. Firefighters, dispatched at 12:53 a.m. October 2 have yet to find a single victim of the crash. Two first responders are doing an initial sweep of the scene until a helicopter arrives to thoroughly search the mountainside. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor REGION – Deputies are investigating a phoned threat about a shooting, or weapons threat inside an unspecified high school, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday. Parents and students report heavy law enforcement presence at Rosemead High School, 9063 Mission Dr., in Rosemead. The San Gabriel Unified School District reported lockdowns were initiated at district schools out of an abundance of caution. The threat was reported more than an hour ago. “There was a threat regarding a weapon inside a high school. There were no witnesses or victims identified yet,” according to Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
San Gabriel Police had San Gabriel High School surrounded, but lockdowns at all San Gabriel Unified Schools have since been lifted. There is still no immediate threat, police said. The incident may have been a prank call, which may have begun as a report of a son shooting his mother and was en route to Rosemead High School, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - A reported robbery suspect who fled into the wilderness after a pursuit crash was taken into custody around 1:46 a.m. Monday. The suspect allegedly robbed someone along Angeles Crest Highway just before 1:30 a.m. September 16. The suspect was quickly found near mile marker 29 and detained at gunpoint, but fled in a vehicle, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic. The suspect fled, at times as fast as 65 miles per hour, in what was initially described as a grey Jeep south on Angeles Crest until the suspect crashed and possibly disabled a front tire around mile marker 27.3. The suspect stopped and fled the vehicle into the wilderness, but ultimately surrendered. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Sheriff’s deputies, Los Angeles Police and crisis negotiators are attempting to have an accused domestic violence and kidnapping suspect peacefully surrender from inside his Prius.
The grey Prius used in the July 29 kidnapping is parked at South Hill Street and West Second Street in Downtown Los Angeles. It was found parked with a sleeping suspect inside since 2:45 a.m., authorities said. 27-year-old Robert Anthony Camou is believed to be barricaded within. “Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, however he refused to exit the vehicle. Due to the nature of the crimes the suspect is wanted for, LAPD SWAT resources have been deployed to the scene,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The LAPD has hard closures along 1st Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street and Broadway. Camou is Accused of injuring and kidnapping 31-year-old Amanda Custer. Monrovia Police we’re called to the 600 block of Vaquero Drive around 8:15 a.m. Monday and found blood at the scene. Authorities believe a domestic violence incident occurred, but do not yet know whose blood was found. Camou and Custer are or were dating and have a history of domestic violence. Custer was reportedly seen being placed into the rear hatch of the grey Prius. It is unclear if she is in tthe barricaded Prius. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - A vehicle has crashed over the side of Glendora Mountain Road and has ignited about a one-quarter acre brush fire. The collision was reported just after 5 p.m. at Glendora Mountain Road west of Glendora Ridge Road July 15. The vehicle crashed 100 feet over the side and became fully engulfed, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire is moving uphill with a moderate rate of spread. The U.S. Forest Service has initiated a full brush response complete with aircraft. Tactical medics with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau are treating the driver for unspecified injuries. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MOUNTAINS - A driver suffered from some scrapes after the vehicle they were driving plummeted over Glendora Mountain Road and Glendora Ridge Road Saturday. A passerby did not witness the crash, but heard it occur before 9:30 p.m. Ground crews and a helicopter arrived to the scene and the latter discovered the crashed vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A paramedic was lowered to the victim to assess injuries. The driver was airlifted to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, a level-one trauma center, due to the distance the vehicle plummeted. The distance the vehicle fell was not disclosed. |
