Detectives will proceed based on the cause of death, according to Lt. Joe Mendoza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The body of a man was found in the mountains near the Glendora Ridge Motorway west of Glendora Mountain Road Monday night. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were called around 8 p.m. by a hiker who found the body. San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team personnel drove and hiked into the location, finally finding the body about one hour later. The body may have been on the mountainside for several days. Deputies were dispatched to the scene around 8 p.m. The man’s body was discovered and the investigation will now be in the hands of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, according to Lt. Elisabeth Sachs of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. The body was found around 9 p.m. and may have been there for a couple days, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Los Angeles County firefighters and U.S. Forest Service firefighters were initially dispatched to Glendora Ridge Motorway and Glendora Mountain Road at 8:11 p.m. County firefighters were initially responding to a medical call, according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The location of the body may be along the Glendora Ridge Motorway north of the Azusa “A”, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. Glendora Ridge Motorway is a dirt trail running along the ridge of the mountains and connects Azusa Peak to Glendora Peak. The man’s identification is pending until family has been notified, according to Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. A concerned resident called deputies to check on the RV the victim was staying. The friend did not hear from the victim, only described as a white man in his 60s, two days prior to the discovery, according to Lt. Elisabeth Sachs of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. The man was declared dead at 10:15 a.m., according to Winter. The friend noticed a bad odor coming from the RV, which was parked in the 16600 block of East Newburgh Street in Vincent, an unincorporated community near Azusa. During the reported argument, an unknown suspect fired at least one round into the air. The gun was not pointed at anyone in particular, according to Lt. Ben Torres of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Park Bureau. Deputies with the San Dimas Station and Park Bureau responded to the park, 120 Via Verde, just after 5:30 p.m. There were people at the park during the gunfire, Torres said. No one has come forward to deputies yet claiming to be a victim of the incident, Torres said. No one has provided information about the shooting and a suspect description is not available. Matthew Luzon Martin-Capiendo, 21, is being sought by Sheriff’s Homicide detectives in connection with the killing of 20-year-old Julian Hamori-Andrade, whose body was found dumped 30 feet over the side of Highway 39 Wednesday, May 30. Martin-Capiendo goes by several aliases including Matthew Martin, Matt Martin and Matt Luzon. Martin-Capiendo is Filipino, stands 5 feet 6 inches tall, is 220 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. He may have recently shaves his hair, Homicide Detectives said. Hercules Balaskas, an 18-year-old man from Glendora, Jacob Hunter Elmendorf, a 19-year-old man from La Verne, Francisco Amigon, a 19-year-old man from La Verne and Martin- Capiendo were charged May 31 with three counts of first degree murder with special circumstances, first-degree residential robbery and kidnapping, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The suspects also face three special circumstances of lying in wait and murder during the kidnapping and robbery Hamori-Andrade, whose body was found dumped 30 feet over the side of Highway 39 Wednesday, May 30. Prosecutors accuse Balaskas of beating Hamori-Andrade with the metal chair. Martin-Capiendo further beat the victim once he was taken to the mountainside, Ardalani said. The brutal killing began May 29 when deputies responding to a home in the 6100 block of Goodway Drive in the unincorporated area near Azusa for a disturbance call discovered a large blood trail leading from the unoccupied home to the street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A motive for the killing is unknown. Balaskas, Amigon and Elmendorf are expected to face arraignment June 6 in Pomona Superior Court. If convicted as charged, all four suspects face the death penalty or life in state prison without parole. The decision to seek the death penalty will be made at a later court appearance. The man found dead after being thrown 30 feet over Highway 39 is 20-year-old Glendora resident Julian Hamori-Andrade. He is not a resident of the home where large blood stains were discovered in the 6100 block of Goodway Drive May 28. Arrested were: - Hercules Balaskas, an 18-year-old white man from Glendora - Jacob Hunter Elmendorf, a 19-year-old white man from La Verne - Francisco Amigon, a 19-year-old Hispanic man from La Verne Still outstanding is 21-year-old Matthew Capiendo Luzon, a 21-year-old resident of unincorporated Azusa. A warrant for his arrest is being sought. A motive for the killing is still unknown. Balaskas, Elmendorf and Amigon were booked into San Dimas Sheriff Station on suspicion of murder. Charges with the District Attorney’s Office are pending, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies laid out a gory scene in which Hamori-Andrade was brutally beaten. “The victim, along with suspects Balaskas, Elmendorf, and Amigon were at the home of suspect Matthew Luzon on Goodway Drive, when the victim was brutally beaten before being dragged to a pick-up truck belonging to one of the suspects,” Homicide detectives said. “The unconscious victim was lifted into the bed of the truck and driven to Azusa Canyon. He was then brutally beaten again before being thrown over the side of a roadside drop off.” Hamori-Andrade was possibly still alive when he was beaten again and dumped over the side of the road where he eventually died. Homicide detectives commend witnesses for coming forward and identifying the truck used in the murder, having seen it parked outside the Goodway Drive home on the night of the incident. Witness accounts led deputies to the location where Hamori-Andrade was found, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The three suspects, who have yet to be identified, are described as acquaintances of the man. His body was found dumped after a tip led San Dimas Sheriff’s deputies to near mile marker 20 on San Gabriel Canyon Road where the body was found amongst thick brush, according to deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’ Information Bureau. One suspect remains outstanding. Because of this, no suspect names are being released and neither is the motive, Schrader said. Deputies discovered the body at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, 30 feet over the side. Deputies searched for two hours after being tipped off about a possible body before making the discovery, Schrader said. The man, who will not be publicly named until next of kin are notified, appears to have suffered blunt force trauma. The man was assaulted at a home in the 6100 block of Goodway Drive in Citrus, an unincorporated community near Azusa May 28. He was driven to the Azusa Canyons where his body was dumped. It is unclear where the man was killed, Schrader said. San Dimas deputies at the scene have called for Sheriff’s Homicide detectives, crime lab personnel and equipment to assist with the investigation. A vehicle is also at the scene, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. The San Dimas Sheriff’s Station Watch Commander deferred all questions regarding the discovery of a body to the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. No one at Sheriff’s Homicide was available to answer questions. The California Highway Patrol was called to provide traffic control around the scene and, according to CHP traffic logs, were informed that deputies “are working a body over the side, possible homicide." It is unclear if this death is tied to the discovery of a blood-stained bedroom in a home in the county area near Azusa. Deputies responding to a fight call in the 6100 block of Goodway Drive May 28 discovered a large quantity of blood inside an empty home. A blood trail led to the street. Deputies at that time could not find a victim. A 20-year-old man was listed in critical condition, a 19-year-old woman was listed as stable after being shot during an attempted carjacking. The incident took place along San Gabriel Canyon Road near mile marker 23, according to Sgt. Wilson Wong of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. Azusa Police notified San Dimas deputies of two shooting victims who drove down from the canyon and stopped at Eleventh Street and San Gabriel Canyon Road at 11:22 p.m. The suspect, described as a Hispanic man in a grey hoodie, fled in a 2000’s-model Ford Mustang.
