DUARTE - A woman distracted a convenience store employee while a man stole hundred of dollars worth of lottery tickets January 20.
The petty theft occurred around 1:45 a.m. at the convenience store, 1802 Huntington Dr. The man and woman entered the store and lingered for 30 minutes. The woman and distracted the clerk by calling him to the rear of the store to clean up a beer bottle she broke on the floor, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
The man capitalized on the distracted clerk by taking $900 in lottery tickets from behind the front counter, deputies said.
Both the man and woman fled the 7-Eleven together and ran out of view, deputies said.
