DUARTE - Deputies are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon after a man walked up to his victim, opened a knife and sliced his stomach.
Deputies were called to Walmart, 1600 Mountain Ave., around 6:20 p.m. October 10 to investigate the assault. The victim sustained a one-inch laceration to his stomach and claimed the attack was unprovoked, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station.
The victim was standing outside the adjacent McDonald’s and was talking on his phone when the attack occurred.
The suspect, described as a Caucasian man, folded the knife and walked from the store.
The attack was caught on camera and the investigation is ongoing, deputies said.
The victim refused medical treatment.
