The robbery occurred in the Walmart lot, 1180 S. Diamond Bar Blvd., just before 1:20 p.m. after the couple left a nearby bank March 26. Two suspects exited a red four-door car and began robbing the couple. The husband fought back, according to Lt. Avila of the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sherriff’s Station. One of the suspects released pepper spray during the robbery. The money was inside some kind of case or bag when it was taken.
The husband may have received abrasions after fighting back. Medics were called to the scene, Avila said. The two suspects entered a waiting vehicle and fled south towards the 60 freeway. All three suspects were described as Black men. Firefighters were dispatched at 1:14 p.m. and found the suspect with a crush injury and laceration to an arm and lacerations to his legs, Singleton said.
Deputies are investigating if the injuries were self-inflicted, according to Sgt. Cardoza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station.
