DIAMOND BAR - Portions of the 60 freeway at the 57 interchange remain closed while the California Highway Patrol investigates a possible shooting from late Tuesday night. At 5:47 a.m., the California Highway Patrol extending the Sig Alert for an additional hour. The eastbound and westbound connector roads to the southbound 57 freeway are closed, as well as the westbound 60 carpooling to fly over to the southbound 57 and The northbound, grand Ave., on ramp to the westbound of 60 freeway are also closed, according to Caltrans. The occupants of a white sedan were fired upon reportedly in the Diamond Bar area. For reasons unknown, the white sedan was driven to the Costa Mesa area. A rear passenger died. A front passenger sustained injuries, but will survive. The driver was not hurt, according to ABC 7 news. Authorities were called to a reported vehicle to vehicle shooting near Diamond Bar Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 1. A truck was also apparently struck by gunfire, but no one was injured. Video taken at the scene of the investigation showed a pickup truck stopped in a parking lot, CHP officers interviewed a family that occupied the truck. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - One person was declared dead at the scene of a big rig fire that shut down the east 60 freeway, leaving only the HOV and a connector road open.
The California Highway patrol responded to report have a sedan versus a big rig on the shoulder of the eastbound 60 freeway under the 57 freeway overpass just after 6 a.m. May 1. Passersby reported seeing a woman in sweatpants and a bra laying in traffic lanes just ahead of the crash, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. It is not yet clear if the woman died as a result of the fire, or if she was struck by a passing vehicle. It was also not clear if there were any other injuries reported. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A reported solo collision killed one person on the trans road from the eastbound 60 freeway to the northbound 57 in diamond bar Thursday morning.
The collision occurred around 12:08 a.m. January 6. It is unclear if the victim died inside the crashed vehicle. There was an earlier report from a driver that someone was struck in the middle lanes of the 60 freeway just before the trans road, according to the California Highway Patrol. At 1:11 a.m., a Sig Alert was issued for the eastbound 60 trans road to the northbound 57 freeway. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A motorcyclist died in an early morning crash on the northbound 57 freeway Saturday.
The crash occurred south of Diamond Bar Boulevard. CHP officers were dispatched at 2:10 a.m. August 21. The No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes were affected for several hours, according to Officer Moises Marroquin of the California Highway Patrol. A three-hour Sig Alert was issued for the above mentioned lanes just before 3 a.m. Just before 7 a.m., the Sig Alert was extended for an additional 30 minutes, but was canceled just before 8:30 a.m. The rider was only described as a Hispanic man about 40 to 50 years old, Marroquin told SGV CityWatch. Marroquin did not know if any other vehicle was involved. The fatal collision was possibly tied to another CHP call of a person decapitated in lanes of traffic that was dispatched at 2:11 a.m. on the north of 57 freeway just north of Lambert Road near a wall. That incident also required the No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes to be shut down. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A grass fire is being extinguished by several Los Angeles County fire units after a silver compact vehicle went off the eastbound 60 freeway and crashed down an embankment.
The fire is confined to the island area between the eastbound 60 freeway and the Diamond Bar Boulevard offramp, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. At least two ambulances have been requested to treat the injured. The severity of injuries is not immediately known. The No. 4 lane and the off ramp are closed while firefighters work, the California Highway Patrol reports. The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 7:20 a.m. July 11. At least one caller reported that a silver sports vehicle was driving erratically before it crashed down the embankment. All occupants in the silver sports vehicle were able to self extricate. A passerby reported that one person with blood on his face was seen sitting on the offramp, according to California Highway patrol traffic logs. The California Highway Patrol responded just after 1 a.m. to a report of pedestrian laying in the slow lane April 29. The HOV and No. 1 lanes were able to remain open for most of the investigation. By 3:47 a.m., all lanes were opened for traffic, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. It is unclear if the pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit and run driver. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with the rear of a stalled car on the eastbound 60 freeway just west of Grand Avenue Friday night.
Reports from the scene indicated a Dodge Charger stalled in the No. 1 lane. The motorcyclist struck the rear of the Charger around 9:40 p.m. and landed an estimated 20 feet onto the roadway, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. A white van reportedly struck the downed motorcycle and rider who landed in front of the stalled Charger. By around 11 p.m., authorities had all eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway just west of Grand Avenue shut down, as well as the flyover from the northbound 57 freeway to the eastbound 60 freeway, according to the CHP. By 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities had all lanes open after the crash was cleared and the coroner removed the body, according to the CHP. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - Deputies with the Sheriff’s Traffic Services Detail plan a DUI/driver license checkpoint between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. August 10. The checkpoint will be held in an undisclosed area of town. The location is based on collision statistics and the frequency of DUI arrests, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Authorities want to remind drivers that “DUI just doesn’t mean booze,” and that prescription drugs (especially those with a driving or machinery warning label) and marijuana can also impair drivers.

An unspecified number of sedans and an SUV may have been involved in the collision in the middle lanes of the eastbound 60 freeway at Grand Avenue, which was first reported to authorities at 4:44 a.m. August 4. One driver reported seeing a body in traffic lanes.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating a report from the scene that a male driver fled the crash. One other person was critically injured and hospitalized. All eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway at Grand Avenue were closed at 5:34 a.m. The Sig Alert was extended eventually. The outage is also affecting power at intersections around Grand Avenue and Longview Drive, according to the City of Diamond Bar. Southern California Edison has no estimated time for repair. |
