The suspect fled a felony traffic stop on southbound Grand Avenue near the 60 freeway. The suspect, described as a Black man in a burgundy sweatshirt, fled towards Calvary Chapel, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Radio Traffic. Three other men inside the suspect vehicle have also been detained. Deputies found and detained the west side of the Calvary Chapel parking lot, 22324 Golden Springs Dr. All four suspects were sought in connection with a possible attempted home burglary in the 21700 block of Clydesdale Circle in Walnut. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor UPDATE, 3:02 p.m. - Firefighters made quick work of a one-acre brush fire that charred part of a Diamond Bar hillside along Brea Canyon Road and the 57 freeway.
A car fire spread to the brush, but firefighters had established a perimeter around the fire and had flames knocked down by around 1:40 p.m. The No. 4 and 5 lanes of the northbound 57 freeway are block until about 4 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said. DIAMOND BAR - A half-acre brush fire is burning along the northbound 57 freeway at Brea Canyon Road. The brush fire started from a burning BMW on the right shoulder of the freeway around 1:11 p.m. Los Angeles County Firefighters have a full brush fire response initiated, including three helicopters. Flames are moving northbound. Only one engine is on scene and that engine has run out of water, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. Firefighters have requested arson investigators to determine the cause, which may stem from a homeless encampment. DIAMOND BAR - A full brush fire response is descending on Diamond Bar after a small brush fire is burning uphill. The fire was initially spotted by a passing police helicopter in the 1300 block of Glenthorpe Drive. One-half acre is burning uphill behind some residences. A water-dropping helicopter is en route to assist, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department and Sheriff’s radio traffic. There homes above the fire on a hill. Firefighters are determining if they will be in harm's way. The fire, which is still under investigation, burned inside the large two-story home at 2811 Shadow Canyon Dr. The extent of injuries to the victim were not immediately known. Firefighters were dispatched at 11:01 a.m. Building and safety personnel were called to the scene to inspect the structural compromise to the home, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was not known if anyone who lived in the home was displaced. |
