The burglary occurred at a pharmacy at 931 Buena Vista St., just before 6 a.m. Doors to the east side of the building were pried open and a suspect or suspects stole the property, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The loss was unknown at the time of the report. A suspect in an Amazon delivery shirt was caught on surveillance video “appearing to impersonate an Amazon delivery driver,” according to the City of Duarte. The incident was recorded June 16 in the 2500 block of Elda Street at 3:30 p.m. ”Witnesses reported that the man was sitting in his vehicle waiting on the street for the Amazon delivery driver, and after the delivery came, he followed to steal the package,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The suspect drove in a yellow Kia EV6. Deputies ask residents to be vigilant, but to refrain from confronting strangers. Detectives offered a much clearer image of the man they believe committed the assault in the 1200 block of Huntington Drive at 3 a.m. The suspect is described as a black man who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. He has curly hair and was last seen wearing a blue sweater, blue pants and was carrying a dark-colored camouflage backpack. California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley, 1401 Highland Ave., announced in a message to parents Wednesday night that classes June 2 would be cancelled and a decision on how students could make up final exams would be made. “We wanted to inform you that it has been reported that a student made what was described by witnesses as a “joke” about bringing a gun to school tomorrow,” according to CSArts in the parents message. The scheduled graduation pre-rehearsal was also cancelled. “We have shared the reports with law enforcement and are in the process of completing a full investigation into the allegations,” according to CSArts in the parents message. Several attempts to speak with Det. Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station were unsuccessful. It is unclear if the student was cited or arrested, or even located. California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley boasts itself as a public charter school, offering college preparatory education. CSArts is a tuition-free donation-dependent school, made possible through a public-private partnership with the Duarte Unified School District, according to the CSArts website. The burglary occurred between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the 1800 block of Orange Grove Road. A rear glass sliding door was shattered to gain entry to the home. It was not clear of a suspect vehicle was seen fleeing the area. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - A driver was arrested early Monday morning after authorities disabled his vehicle on Huntington Drive during a high-speed pursuit that began in Rancho Cucamonga.
Authorities chases the suspect, identified as 57-year-old Thomas Silva, first on surface streets. A 9-1-1 caller said she was out for a run at Banyan Road and Day Creek Boulevard and thaf a man in a vehicle was following her. When police attempted to pull over the driver, he fled at high speed, according to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department. The CHP was notified of the pursuit sometime after 3:30 a.m. CHP officers joined in the chase as it sped westbound on the 210 freeway in the La Verne area. A helicopter joined in as the driver swerved across multiple lanes of traffic until he exited onto Baseline Road and then northbound on Grand Avenue in Glendora, according to CHP radio traffic. The pursuit went through several Glendora neighborhoods after turning west onto Mauna Loa Avenue and then north on Vecino Drive to Route 66. The pursuit continued westbound on Route 66 to Foothill Boulevard in Azusa, the driver sometimes reached 90 miles per hour, according to CHP radio traffic. CHP officers were ordered to pull out of the chase as it continued into Irwindale and Duarte. Rancho Cucamonga police used the pursuit intervention technique and disabled the suspect’s vehicle along Huntington Drive and Cotter Avenue in Duarte. “At the termination of the pursuit, Silva failed to comply when ordered to exit the vehicle. Deputies deployed pepper balls into Silva’s vehicle,” according to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department in a written statement. Silva, a Victorville resident, was arrested and booked on suspicion of evading police with disregard for public safety. He was jailed at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail. The assault occurred in the 1200 block of Huntington Drive Between 2:45 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect is described as a black man who stands 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. Clothing description was not provided. The victims condition was also not provided. Residents who live within a half mile of the 1200 block of Huntington Drive are asked to check security cameras for any video capturing suspicious activity around the time of the assault, according to the Los Angeles County sheriffs department. The burglary in the 800 block of Beckville Street is believed to have occurred between 9 p.m. November 28 and 6 a.m. November 29. A window screen was forced open at the residence and access was gained through an unlocked window. “Suspect(s) unknown stole a cat that the victim had rescued. No other items appeared to have been stolen,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - Three suspects robbed a 7-Eleven of cash and later abandoned a stolen Chevy Cavalier they escaped escaped in, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The robbery unfolded at the 7-Eleven, 1802 Huntington Dr., October 14. Three suspects described as Hispanic men ages 20 to 25 in hooded sweatshirts and facial coverings entered the store. Two suspects approached the cashier and ordered him to empty the register. “The third came from behind and ordered a store customer to empty his pockets. One of the males produced a tan-colored handgun and, fearing for his life, the cashier emptied the register of its contents,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The three suspects fled in a waiting grey 2005 Chevy Cavalier. The vehicle was found abandoned the next day in the 1900 block Buena Vista Street October 15. The vehicle was reported stolen two days prior in Pasadena, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The shooting took place inside a room at the Days Inn by Wyndham, 1533 E. Huntington Dr., October 9. The male allegedly began acting bizarre and the victim tried to calm him down by hugging him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “The suspect began to push the victim off of him, when the victim heard a gunshot and realized she had been shot in the arm. The victim attempted the run out of the room, when the suspect prevented her from leaving,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station in a written statement. After several attempts, the victim was able to escape. The suspect also fled, but was found and arrested. His name was not publicly disclosed. |
