The shooting occurred September 22 in the 1200 block of Galen Street. The driver was seated in his vehicle when another vehicle, described as a late 90s Hyundai Sonata with tinted windows, stopped alongside him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “The victim heard the sound of a gunshot and immediately realized he had been shot. The suspect vehicle driven by unknown persons fled the area,” according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station in a written statement. Shotgun pellet holes peppered the victim’s vehicle and evidence was recovered at the scene. Both victim and suspect began arguing at the convenience store, 2705 Huntington Drive. An employee told both victim and suspect to leave, at which point the victim told the suspect “I’ll meet you outside,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “Once both parties were outside, the victim approached the other party, when he produced a knife and was stabbed in the abdomen,” according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station in a written statement. Surveillance video apparently caught the incident. It is unclear if any arrests were made. Gunfire erupted in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue around 1:19 a.m. August 16. The victim was inside a home and then heard a man yell the word “blood” at the front of the residence. A surveillance camera caught the suspect firing multiple rounds into the home, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The victim received a wound to his right forearm considered not life-threatening. Empty shell casings were recovered at the location. Deputies did not provide a suspect description. It is not clear if the suspect escaped in a vehicle. The burglary took place around 5 a.m. at the restaurant, 1212 Huntington Dr. $1,385 was stolen from the location and $2,300 in damage was caused during the break-in, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The burglary was caught on surveillance cameras. It is not publicly clear if any arrests have been made in the days since the burglary. The attempted robbery occurred around 2:20 p.m. at 2705 Huntington Dr. A gold Nissan 350Z pulled up and the driver brandished a chrome semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victim’s dog, according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station. “Victim fearing for his safety fled the area. Victim stated suspect followed him a short distance and lost sight of the vehicle as he pulled into the public safety parking lot,” according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station in a written statement. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s. He wore a goatee and his head was bald. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - An Irwindale police officer received moderate injuries, but refused hospitalization after a driver went through the scene of a collision investigation June 26.
The 25-year-old officer was treated at the scene at Huntington Drive and Encanto Parkway June 26 after being hit by a westbound driver. Irwindale officers were called to help direct traffic while Sheriff’s deputies investigated a crash, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “The driver disregarded the traffic cones, flares and emergency lights and continued driving into the collision investigation scene after hitting the officer,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station responded to a collision after a vehicle struck a pedestrian around 7:45 p.m. at Huntington Drive and Las Lomas Road. The crash appeared to be accidental, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. This reporter sought additional details regarding the crash after a social post by the Irwindale Police Department stated the pedestrian died. A supervisor at the Sheriff’s Temple Station was unaware if the pedestrian died after being taken to an area hospital. Detective Bravo, the deputy handling the crash, declined to state the status of the pedestrian and would not confirm if the pedestrian even died. The errant driver was stopped by deputies, but it is unclear if an arrest was made. DUARTE - Detectives are investigating an argument that led two men to pull handguns on an adversary in a Duarte neighborhood April 15. The weapon brandishing unfolded near Starhaven Street at Buena Vista Street at 6:30 p.m. The victim told deputies he got into an argument with his neighbor about the neighbor’s speeding on the street. During the argument, two of the neighbor’s friends approach the victim and brandished black handguns at him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “The victim ran to his home, and the suspects and his neighbor entered a gold-colored BMW and drove northbound Buena Vista Street and out of view,” Deputies said in a written statement. The robbery occurred around 1:47 a.m. in the 1800 block of Duarte Road. The suspect approached the security guards and demanded their phones. The guards refused and were then punched by the suspect, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. After punching the guards, the suspect brandished a knife. “Seeing the knife and in fear for their lives, both victims gave their phones to the suspect. During the investigation, one of the victims identified the suspect walking past the crime scene,” according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station. The suspect was eventually identified, arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery. The suspect's name and city of residence were not readily available. The shooting occurred on South Felberg Avenue north of Maydee Street around 2:43 p.m. February 14. Two people were shot. The victims, described as having critical injuries, were transported to two different hospitals, according to Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Deputies are searching for possibly as many as four suspects in the shooting. A black handgun and possibly a black rifle were used in the shooting, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. The suspects reportedly entered a gray older-model four-door sedan which was driven south towards Maydee Street and out of view. Hey sheriffs supervisor did not answer a phone call by this reporter seeking additional information. A motive for the shooting is not yet publicly clear. Investigators do not yet have a motive or a suspect description in the stabbing, which they believe occurred in the 2500 block of Millbrae Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station were notified around 8:45 p.m. of a stabbing victim admitted to a local hospital February 4. The preliminary investigation led deputies to an address on Millbrae Avenue, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The stabbing victim, only described as an adult Hispanic man, died at the hospital.
