The attempted robbery occurred around 2:20 p.m. at 2705 Huntington Dr. A gold Nissan 350Z pulled up and the driver brandished a chrome semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victim’s dog, according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station. “Victim fearing for his safety fled the area. Victim stated suspect followed him a short distance and lost sight of the vehicle as he pulled into the public safety parking lot,” according to the Sheriff’s Temple Station in a written statement. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s. He wore a goatee and his head was bald. The 25-year-old officer was treated at the scene at Huntington Drive and Encanto Parkway June 26 after being hit by a westbound driver. Irwindale officers were called to help direct traffic while Sheriff’s deputies investigated a crash, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “The driver disregarded the traffic cones, flares and emergency lights and continued driving into the collision investigation scene after hitting the officer,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station responded to a collision after a vehicle struck a pedestrian around 7:45 p.m. at Huntington Drive and Las Lomas Road. The crash appeared to be accidental, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. This reporter sought additional details regarding the crash after a social post by the Irwindale Police Department stated the pedestrian died. A supervisor at the Sheriff’s Temple Station was unaware if the pedestrian died after being taken to an area hospital. Detective Bravo, the deputy handling the crash, declined to state the status of the pedestrian and would not confirm if the pedestrian even died. The errant driver was stopped by deputies, but it is unclear if an arrest was made. The burglary occurred at Cowboy Mex International, 1318 Duarte Rd. The estimated loss to the store was $8,675, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies did not specify how entry was made into the business. There is no suspect description available. The vehicle, only described by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Hoang as a silver Ford, crashed into Color Nails, 1735 E. Huntington Dr., just before 4:30 p.m. There was one patient at the scene. It was unclear if anyone was transported, but a paramedic squad from the Los Angeles County Fire Department was called off at the scene, according to Marvin Lin of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The circumstances that led to the crash were not immediate know. The suspect burglarized a home in the 800 block of Crestfield Drive between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. The unknown suspect took a Coca-Cola from the refrigerator. The homeowner returned to find the refrigerator door open and the soda sitting on a counter, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. At the time of the report was made, it was unclear if anything was stolen, deputies said. Deputies saw Daniel Salgado-Dominguez, 29, exiting the Duarte Public Safety Office, 1042 Huntington Dr., the afternoon of Tuesday, August 28. Deputies knew Salgado-Dominguez was wanted for an outstanding felony warrant, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies took Salgado-Dominguez into custody outside the Duarte Public Safety Office without incident. “Prior to transporting, the suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun in a holster attached to the inside of his pants,” deputies said. Salgado-Dominguez was booked on suspicion of carrying the loaded handgun and on seven additional felonies related to the handgun, including carrying a loaded firearm, being a gang member in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon and assault with a deadly weapon. Salgado-Dominguez is being held in the North County Correction Facility in Castaic. He is scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court September 12. Deputies were called to the parking lot around 9:16 p.m. August 9. The man was found inside a vehicle, according to Lt. Frank Ruiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The vehicle was located in the eastern portion of the Target lot, 1050 Huntington Dr., closer to the Sonic Drive-In. A passerby approached the man who was initially described as unresponsive and cold to the touch, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. The man, who has yet to be identified, may have died of natural causes, according to Nani Cholakians, investigator with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The two were shot in what is possibly a gang shooting in the 2500 block of Broderick Avenue around 11:41 a.m. Both the man and woman were shot in the upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau. A white vehicle was seen fleeing the area, deputies said. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Two victims were transported to an area hospital in unknown condition. The shooting was reported around 11:41 a.m. in the 2400 block of Broderick Avenue, said Lt. The suspects fled Baklava Land Bakery and Café, 1431 Huntington Dr., early in the morning May 29 after being spotted by a deputy who was patrolling the business, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The suspects entered the business by smashing through the glass front doors. The register was dumped in some nearby bushes. A containment search eventually yielded two hiding suspects who were booked on suspicion of burglary. Arrested were 22-year-old Jesse Santoyo and 26-year-old Dion Fredrick. Fredrick and Santoyo were arrested at 2:37 a.m. Fredrick is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic awaiting an appearance at Alhambra Superior Court June 15, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Santoyo was released May 29 and had a scheduled appearance at Alhambra Superior Court May 31. |
