Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor UPDATE, 9:13 a.m.: The man fatally wounded by gunfire early Sunday morning was described as being in his 20s. He was hit by multiple gunshots to the upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The other victim, also a man in his 20s, was struck by multiple rounds of gunfire in the lower torso and one leg. He is expected to survive. Investigators revised the location of the shooting after finding evidence that the shooting took place at Allen J. Martin Park, 14830 East Giordano St. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station were originally called to the area for a report of gunfire and when they arrived they found both victims. LA PUENTE - Two men were shot Sunday morning, one of them fatally, in a La Puente neighborhood. The shooting took place around 1:50 a.m. September 5 in the 700 block of Greenberry Drive. The victim who survived the shooting is in critical condition at an area hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. It is not yet publicly clear if the man fatally wounded by gunfire died at the scene, or at a hospital. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE – Charges were filed recently against a man accused of repeatedly molesting a child in 2001 after befriending a family through a La Puente church.
The victim spoke to deputies at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station December 4, 2018 about the allegations. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau arrested the suspect August 23 near his La Puente home, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect was identified as 44-year-old Sergio Quintanilla. The victim told detectives that the molestation occurred when he was 8 or 9 years old. The suspect, who was an adult at the time, befriended the family at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness church campus, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The alleged molestation occurred over six to eight months, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “The suspect continued to be an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in the City of La Puente church organization until recently,” according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “The suspect’s participation in the church organization provided him access to church youth on campus and during youth activities.” The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one felony count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and one felony count of sodomy of a person under 14 years of age, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect’s bail is set at $450,000.
