Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A man and two females are facing various weapons and drug charges after leading Industry deputies on a reckless chase that ended in a crash Friday night. The suspect was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer during a traffic stop in the 300 block of California Avenue in La Puente around 11:05 p.m. A deputy attempted to stop the driver when the assault with a deadly weapon occurred, according to Sgt. Ruben Macias of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect, 37-year-old Terrance Warner of Moreno Valley, reportedly backed his vehicle into the deputy’s patrol vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Macias said deputies were trying to confirm if the deputy whose vehicle was struck in La Puente was injured. Warner, with two female occupants in the car, allegedly led deputies on a reckless, high-speed chase that entered the north 605 freeway in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Warner allegedly used evasive maneuvers, steering sharply from freeway exit ramps and merging back onto the freeway. The suspect also brake-checked deputies while on surface streets after exiting the west 210 freeway in Monrovia. The chase continued on Duarte surface streets, at one point speeding along westbound Huntington Drive at nearly 100 miles per hour. Warner apparently failed to negotiated the tight curve south on Highland Avenue where it turns into Duarte Road and crashed into the median just south of the Gold Line City of Hope Station. Deputies arrived en mass and ordered the suspects out of the car. Less lethal rounds were fired into the car to get the suspects to comply. All three suspects surrendered, just as a westbound Gold Line train approached the intersection. A gun and drugs were found in the vehicle, deputies said. Booking information for the females was not readily available.
