Thomas Lawrence Potter, 52, was identified during the follow-up investigation. He was located and arrested without incident at 3:06 p.m. January 25, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. Potter was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run causing injuries. He is being held in lieu of $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in Alhambra Superior Court Monday.
Potter and his passenger were in a light-colored SUV when the pedestrian was struck mid-block in the 100 block of West Newmark Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. January 18, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. Potter, his passenger and the SUV were all captured on surveillance camera around the time of the crash. The suspect driver and his passenger were in a light-colored SUV when the pedestrian was struck mid-block in the 100 block of West Newmark Avenue just before 7:30 p.m., according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The female pedestrian remains in critical condition.

The collision was reported around 7:26 p.m. in the 100 block of West Newmark Avenue. The pedestrian was crossing mid-block when a light-colored SUV with chrome rims approached westbound and hit the woman, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. The woman’s condition was not disclosed.
The SUV fled west on Newmark Avenue to northbound Ramona Avenue. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – A Rosemead man and Compton man were arrested the same evening after allegedly burglarizing a vehicle January 3. Rosemead man Jesus Orozco, 27, and Compton man Robert Milinkovich, 25, were arrested at a Rosemead residence after officers were able to identify them in connection with a vehicle burglary.
Police were called just before 8 a.m. to the 300 block of West Garvey Avenue to investigate the vehicle burglary.
“The subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects later that evening in the City of Rosemead,” Monterey Park Police said in a written statement. Orozco was booked on suspicion of auto burglary and identity theft. He is being held without bail due to a probation hold, Monterey Park Police said. Milinkovich was booked on suspicion of auto burglary. His bail is set at $20,000. Both men have since appeared in Alhambra Superior Court. Details are few, but the suspects were wanted by Monterey Park Police in connection with a vandalism at a city park, according to the California Highway Patrol. Monterey Park Police cancelled the pursuit due to the driver’s erratic behavior on the road, according to CHP radio traffic. A police helicopter located the suspects driving in excess of 100 miles per hour on the westbound 60 freeway into East Los Angeles just after 2 p.m. On surface streets, the suspect continued fleeing at high speed, driving in opposing lanes and running a vehicle off the road, according to CHP radio traffic. The suspect vehicle crashed into a traffic sign at North Brannick Avenue and Dozier Street where a brief foot pursuit ensued before the suspects were apprehended by East Los Angeles CHP units and Monterey Park Police. The Monterey Park Police Department has yet to return calls for information. The property was discovered during a traffic stop in the 2000 block of South Atlantic Boulevard around 2:25 a.m. The property was taken from vehicles that same night, according to Sgt. Rick Munder of the Monterey Park Police Department. Arrested were 31-year-old Luis Flores, 25-year-old Claudia Moreno and 26-year-old Adrian Molina. All are residents of Los Angeles. It was not divulged how many vehicles were burglarized, or what prompted the traffic stop. Roger Nava, 28, and Nayeli Crystal Molina, 30, were located and arrested. The duo was booked on suspicion of robbery, according to the Monterey Park Police Department. One of the suspects briefly struggled with a Home Depot Employee August 25 as they were leaving Home Depot, 3500 Market Place Dr., with stolen goods, Monterey Park Police said. After viewing footage, detectives believe the duo are responsible for multiple burglaries or robberies in the San Gabriel Valley. Additional charges may be filed. Nava and Molina are both held in lieu of $100,000 bail in the Monterey Park jail. Both made an initial appearance in Alhambra Superior Court September 10. Carlos Antonio Estrada, a 43-year-old Rosemead man, was arrested August 14 in San Gabriel as part of an ongoing investigation into an August 10 commercial burglary in Monterey Park. Lei Gao, a 36-year-old San Gabriel man was arrested August 13, according to Sgt. Rick Munder of the Monterey Park Police Department. The Commercial burglary was committed in the 500 block of West Garvey Avenue. An additional search warrant was served at an additional location in Rosemead, Munder said. Both Gao and Estrada were booked on suspicion of commercial burglary. Yesterday’s police activity on New Avenue between Valley Boulevard and the I-10 freeway was related to the investigation and search warrant execution. Gao is being held in lieu of $145,000 bail, while Estrada is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Gao is scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court August 15, while Estrada is set to appear August 16. The three men were stopped by an officer for a traffic violation at Crest Vista Drive and Brightwood Street around 10:30 a.m. A separate home burglary investigation was being conducted nearby in the 1200 block of West Crest Vista Drive, Monterey Park Police said in a written statement. “The officer located evidence at the scene of the burglary that linked the three occupants of the vehicle stopped at Crest Vista and Brightwood to the residential burglary,” Monterey Park Police said. After further investigation, Tony Dieson Johnson, 23, Jerry Ronnie Green, 27 and Antonio Maurice Sutton, 19, were all booked on suspicion of burglary. All three men have prior burglary arrests, Monterey Park Police said. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed burglary charges against all three men August 9 and all three men have since appeared in Alhambra Superior Court. Los Angeles men Timothy Carver Johnson, 52, and Otis Lee Wishum, 63, were arrested during the traffic stop around 2 a.m. in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Garvey Avenue. The officer recognized them and their vehicle as being involved in commercial burglaries since February 2018, Monterey Park Police said. A follow up investigation revealed the number of commercial burglaries the suspects are linked to and their criminal past, which were described as extensive, with multiple burglary arrests, Monterey Park Police said. Johnson’s arrest records date back to 1985. Wishum’s arret record dates as far back as 1969, Monterey Park Police said. |
