Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK - A man armed with an eight-inch blade took cash in an early-morning convenience store robbery April 9.
The robbery occurred in the 300 block of East Garvey Avenue at 3:40 a.m. The suspect entered the store and said “just give me the money.” The clerk, out of fear, opened the register and removed cash, Monterey Park Police said. The same suspect is believed to have robbed the same convenience store March 26 with possibly the same weapon, Monterey Park Police said. The suspect is a man, 5-foot-6 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, 120 to 150 pounds and has short dark hair. The suspect was caught on camera wearing a white baseball hat with a dark logo on the front, a dark hoodie and appears to be carrying a bag or backpack. The three suspects entered a rear yard and smashed through a sliding glass door just after 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Roca Way. The three suspects fled the home as Monterey Park Police arrived. The suspects ran through neighboring yards, Monterey Park Police said. All three suspects were quickly apprehended, Monterey Park Police said. Arrested were Bryant Burnett, 26, Tywan Brown, 20 and Tyeron Jennings, 19. All three were booked on suspicion of burglary. Burnett and Jennings posted bond. Brown is still being held in lieu of $100,000 and is awaiting an initial appearance at Alhambra Superior Court March 23. |
