CLAREMONT - A Montclair man who spent time as a band coach at Claremont High School was caught September 11 after attempting to meet a teen boy.
Daniel Gonzalez, 25, was arrested in Claremont after attempting to rendezvous with the 17-year-old boy whom he is accused of having an “inappropriate relationship” with, according to the Claremont Police Department.
The boy and Gonzalez met while the latter was employed as a band coach, a job he last worked during the 2017-2018 school year.
Gonzalez was to meet the boy somewhere in Claremont at 5:30 p.m. September 11, but instead was met by Claremont Police and a pair of handcuffs.
Police learned of the inappropriate meeting and molestation allegations September 2.
Gonzalez posted $100,000 bail after being booked on suspicion of child abuse and contact with a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, Claremont Police said.
Gonzalez is scheduled for an appearance in Pomona Superior Court October 10.
