The man is considered a burglary suspect and was rescued by firefighters at 794 Via San Simon, according to Cheryl Sims, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were called to the home at 10:09 a.m. The man was trapped about seven to eight feet down the chimney, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. The suspect is being taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center to be medically cleared for Claremont Police to arrest him. A Claremont Police supervisor was unavailable to provide information. The fire burned a home in the 2900 block of North Mountain Avenue and was dispatched to firefighters at 11:39 a.m. The fire was knocked down at 12:01 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. All residents reportedly evacuated and a search of the home yielded no victims, firefighters said. The fire is burning in medium to heavy brush near Mt. Baldy Road and Shinn Road. The fire was dispatched at 3:03 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters with San Bernardino County are assisting Los Angeles County units. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - A girl was airlifted from a Claremont hiking trail and taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medial Center Saturday morning. The girl received undisclosed injuries, unknown if she experienced a medical episode or hurt herself, on the Sycamore Canyon Trail around 8:38 a.m. Los Angeles County Firefighters and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded to treat the girl. The girl was found around 9:45 a.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The Special Enforcement Bureau hoisted the girl out and transported her to Pomona Valley. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - A man barricaded in a charcoal-colored truck that is teetering over a cliff edge on Mt. baldy Road at Flat River has just given himself up to police.
Firefighters were summoned to the scene at just after 10 a.m. According to ABC7 news, the barricaded man initially refused to exit the truck. Claremont Police are on scene. The suspect was seen exiting the truck with his hands in the air. He is now in police custody. No further information is available. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - Residents escaped injury Monday after an explosion and fire tore through a single-story home Monday afternoon.
The explosion and fire occurred in or near a home in the 200 block of West 12th Street around 2:53 p.m. Arriving firefighters immediately reported smoke and fire showing from the single-family dwelling, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Other homes in a one-block radius also sustained damage. Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the explosion, said Art Marrujo, dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters knocked down the flames at 3:20 p.m. It is unclear if anyone lives in the home and how many people may have been displaced. A second home occupies the property. It was not clear if the second home sustained damage, Marrujo said. |
