Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - The driver of a stolen vehicle led San Dimas deputies on a very brief chase early Wednesday morning and escaped on foot after a crash.
A patrol deputy discovered a stolen vehicle in the area of Bonita Avenue and pony express Lane around 4:25 a.m. January 25, according to Lt. Louis Serrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The suspect, followed by deputies, drove in and out of neighborhoods in San Dimas and into La Verne and ran on foot in the area of Third Street and Wheeler Avenue. The suspect fled across David and Margaret Youth and Family Services, 1350 Third St. “It appears he struck a curb,” Serrano told SGV CityWatch. The suspect, described as a male wearing a black coat and black pants, fled across the property of David and Margaret Youth and Family Services, 1350 Third St., and eluded capture. Serrano did not immediately know what city and what date the vehicle was stolen. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A man and woman are still at-large after escaping deputies who were pursuing them for taking two catalytic converters early Sunday.
The thefts were reported at 6 a.m. November 14 at a business near the intersection of Lone Hill Avenue and West Covina Boulevard. The suspects fled in a truck, according to Sgt. Gallego of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. Within 10 minutes of the thefts taking place, a deputy located the suspects on the northbound 57 freeway at the 210 freeway interchange. A deputy attempted to pull over the truck, but the driver refused to stop, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. The driver fled the deputy at speeds near 100 miles per hour, forcing the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station to end the pursuit due to the dangerous driving. The truck was last seen exiting the westbound 210 freeway onto grand Avenue in Glendora and out of sight. Gallego did not have a description for the man and woman seen taking the catalytic converters. She did not know if the converters were taken from private vehicles, or vehicles tied to the business. SAN DIMAS - A potentially-armed suspect is hiding somewhere near the 57 freeway north of Arrow Highway after fleeing a vehicle pursued by Pomona police. Deputies responded to the area of Highland Place and Amelia Avenue just after 9:30 p.m. after being notified of a Pomona police pursuit That exited the northbound 57 freeway at Arrow Highway. Two other suspects are in custody and only the one remains at large, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department radio traffic. According to preliminary information, Pomona officers were possibly conducting surveillance on the driver of the suspect vehicle when he fled from officers, initiating the chase. No other information is available.

SAN DIMAS - As many as five people were detained Monday night after a pursuit led by the CHP and Azusa Police ended with a crash.
The suspects were tied to a shooting that occurred in Azusa. The suspects in a white sedan refused to yield for Azusa officers and a chase wound its way through Azusa and Glendora via surface streets and the 210 freeway. The pursuit entered Baldwin Park and Irwindale from the 605 freeway where the suspects used surface streets before going back to Azusa. The driver used eastbound Arrow Highway to escape into San Dimas where the driver crashed into another car. |
