Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - A 56-year-old resident was arrested Thursday, accused of drugging a woman and sexually assaulting her inside his home, police said.
John Dehaseth attempted to flee through the rear door of his home in the 1500 block of Mural Drive August 27 as detectives from the Claremont Police Department, aided by the Claremont police drug detection canine, closed in on the suspect at his home. He was detained and placed into custody, the Claremont Police Department said. The arrest came as a result from months of investigation after a victim came forward March 23. Officers responded to the 1500 block of mural Drive. A 38-year-old woman told police she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the suspect inside his nearby home, Claremont Police said. “During months of continuous investigation, evidence was located, which corroborated the victim’s statement,” Claremont Police said in a written statement. After the arrest Thursday, police confiscated evidence related to the assault inside the suspects home. Dehaseth Was booked on suspicion of rape and possession of drug paraphernalia he is being held in Lou of $100,000 bail a head of a scheduled appearance in Pomona superior Court August 31.
