CLAREMONT – Police announced Friday the arrest of a 67-year-old Covina woman who they allege struck and killed a pedestrian January 8, leaving his body in the roadway.
Evidence at the scene led officers to Helen Scheuplein and her vehicle in Pomona at the Hi-Brow bar in the 500 block of West Foothill Boulevard. She was arrested without incident and booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter and hit and run causing death, according to the Claremont Police Department.
Scheuplein is accused of killing 50-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man James Radzik in the 1600 block of North Towne Avenue.
During Scheuplein’s arrest, officers seized evidence related to the hit and run crash, Claremont Police said.
Scheuplein is being held in lieu of 100,000 ahead of a scheduled appearance in Pomona Superior Court Monday, January 13.
