Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - A known sex registrant and transient was jailed Thursday, accused of making inappropriate sexual comments to a juvenile. Javier Sanchez, 26, was arrested within minutes of a warrant being issued for his arrest in connection with the child annoying case that occurred in November, according to the Claremont Police Department. A girl was approached by a man near Indian Hill Boulevard and First Street November 27. “The victim stated that the male adult made inappropriate sexual comments to her. The suspect had left the area prior to the officer’s arrival,” Claremont Police said. Investigators believed they knew the suspect’s identity based on the victim’s description, thinking Sanchez was the man who approached the girl. Sanchez frequents the Claremont Village area. Sanchez was held in lieu of $100,000 bail and was scheduled for a December 6 appearance in Pomona Superior Court.
Sanchez was previously arrested November 21 -- six days before the child annoying incident and accused of lewd acts at the Claremont Helen Renwick Library. He pleaded guilty in the library case, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, but was released after one day due to overcrowding in the county jail, Claremont Police said. Investigators released Sanchez’s booking photo in hopes of encouraging more victims to step forward. Anyone with information on Sanchez is urged to call Claremont Police at 909-399-5411. |
