Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A driver got away with only a complaint of pain after speed likely caused a violent crash on San Dimas Canyon Road Thursday afternoon.
The driver was driving south on San Dimas Canyon Road around 5:45 p.m. when she crossed over into the opposing lane and struck a metal guard rail near Caballo Ranch Road. The crash ripped the driver side door off and the vehicle came to rest on top of the rail, according to Lt. Mark Skaggs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The vehicle then ignited, Skaggs said. “A witness was actually able to run over and pull the driver from the vehicle before she suffered any really serious injuries,” Skaggs said. The driver, who complained of pain to a leg and her abdomen was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. About 20 feet of metal guard rail was destroyed. The vehicle was destroyed by fire, Skaggs said. Skaggs did not know if alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving was a factor in the crash. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A four-door sedan and a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s patrol SUV collided in the middle of Lone Hill Avenue and Arrow Highway Independence Day.
The collision occurred around 11:53 a.m. A deputy was responding to an emergency call in the 1100 block of Arrow Highway when, for unknown reasons, the Sheriff’s SUV and a vehicle collided, said Sgt. Matthew Bodell of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The dark blue, four-door car sustained major front-end damage. The Sheriff’s SUV jumped a sidewalk and came to a rest on a grassy area outside the Arco gas station, 1115 W. Arrow Hwy. No one in either vehicle required hospitalization, Bodell said. A report has yet to be completed. Bodell did not know if the civilian driver ran a red light, nor did he know the direction of travel for either vehicle. |
