Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS – A driver was taken to an area hospital after crashing his vehicle, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said Friday. Firefighters were dispatched to the crash at East Arrow Highway and South Walnut Avenue at 4 a.m. October 30. One patient was transported to an area hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The driver is possibly connected to a residential break-in that occurred in San Dimas about 20 minutes prior and deputies are still trying to connect the dots to see if there is a link, according to Lt. Ed Mackenzie of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. "The driver is in bad shape. He was transported over to Pomona Valley," Mackenzie told SGV CityWatch. Armando Casimiro, 55, was identified by Sarah Ardalani, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Casimiro was taken to an area hospital, along with two other victims, according to Dispatch Supervisor Troy of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The crash occurred just after 2 p.m. Friday, August 14 on Covina Boulevard near the southbound 57 freeway off ramp. A black truck, white truck and dark-colored sedan collided. Additional details remain hidden Tuesday, as far as the direction of travel and possible speed of each vehicle and if drunk driving was a contributing factor. SGV CityWatch was told a detective at the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station was investigating the crash, however the detective could not be reached. It is unclear if any arrests have been made.

SAN DIMAS - As many as five people were detained Monday night after a pursuit led by the CHP and Azusa Police ended with a crash.
The suspects were tied to a shooting that occurred in Azusa. The suspects in a white sedan refused to yield for Azusa officers and a chase wound its way through Azusa and Glendora via surface streets and the 210 freeway. The pursuit entered Baldwin Park and Irwindale from the 605 freeway where the suspects used surface streets before going back to Azusa. The driver used eastbound Arrow Highway to escape into San Dimas where the driver crashed into another car. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS – A man in his 50s died in a collision on the westbound I-10 freeway at Kellogg Drive April 19. Possibly as many as four vehicles were involved in the crash that shut down all westbound lanes until just after 2:30 a.m. CHP officers were initially told a white Toyota Rav4 was involved in the crash and possibly fled the scene, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. It was not immediately clear if the Rav4 was ever found. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A 13-year-old male and 14-year-old female were seriously injured after being hit by a truck while allegedly jaywalking across Cienega Avenue Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred in the eastbound No. 1 lane of Cienega Avenue at the 57 freeway around 10 a.m. February 11. The male suffered a broken leg and the girl suffered head trauma, according to Sgt. Gauthier of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. Both of the teenagers were riding skateboards when they were hit by the truck, Gauthier told SGV CityWatch. “They were ditching school at the time. They were not in class,” Gauthier said. Both teens were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in stable condition. “The driver remained at the scene. It looked to be an accident,” Gauthier told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A driver crashed into a power pole early Sunday, causing severe damage to the pole and outages nearby. The crash occurred on Arrow Highway between Walnut Avenue and San Dimas Canyon Road just after 5 a.m. October 27. Deputies are redirecting traffic. Live wires fell across traffic lanes and briefly ignited grass on a center median across Arrow Highway, according to Sgt. Michael McGrattan of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The 23-year-old driver was reportedly uninjured, but she was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, McGrattan said.
Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported two people were hospitalized in the crash with one being taken to a trauma center for treatment. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, McGrattan said. Southern California Edison Reports as many as 60 customers are without power. The collision between a black sedan and grey sedan occurred at Badillo Street and Valley Center Avenue around 8:13 p.m. July 8. A black sedan eastbound on Badillo Street collided with a sedan southbound on Valley Center Avenue, said Lt. Ed Mackenzie of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The two occupants of the grey sedan were treated at the scene. The two occupants of the black sedan complained of pain and were taken to a nearby hospital, Mackenzie said. No one was arrested or cited. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A Pomona man was arrested late Wednesday night, accused of slamming his Ford truck into a stalled sedan and causing fatal injuries. David Busby, 56, was traveling south on the 57 freeway past Arrow Highway in the No. 2 lane just before 10 p.m. June 19. He slammed his 2016 Ford Transit 250 into a stalled 2012 Hyundai Elantra, according to the California Highway Patrol. The occupied Elantra was stalled in the No. 1 and 2 lanes when it was hit.
A Sig Alert for the No. 1, 2 and 3 lanes from 10:19 p.m. to 1:16 a.m. The 33-year-old female driver of the Elantra has yet to be identified. The collision occurred in westbound lanes of the I-10 freeway west of Kellogg Drive around 9:15 p.m. December 19, according to the CHP. The 29-year-old rider of a 2016 Yamaha was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. He suffered blunt force trauma, the CHP said. The driver who hit the rider was uninjured, the CHP said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A young boy was flown by helicopter to an area trauma center after being hit by a driver Saturday afternoon. The boy, described as 11 years old, was standing at the southeast corner of Valley Center Avenue and Arrow Highway when a black Dodge Charger east on Arrow Highway allegedly ran a red light, clipped a vehicle, spun around and hit the child, according to witnesses at the scene. The second vehicle was attempting to turn south on Valley Center from westbound Arrow Highway. The boy was in stable condition while being treated by firefighters, but an updated condition was not available.
The boy was preparing to cross Arrow Highway with his mother, both had bicycles with them when the crash occurred, according to witnesses at the scene. The driver of the Charger was also transported to an area hospital. The boy’s and mother’s property remained at the scene Saturday afternoon, including their bicycles and the boy’s shoes. It is unclear if any arrests were made. The California Highway Patrol is handling the crash. |
