Andy Berg of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station issued a statement regarding Friday’s incident: “We are aware today that local media reported asexual assault by a stranger on Cypress Street in San Dimas. We take all such matters seriously and in this case substantial resources were immediately activated, including crime lab investigators, Special Victims Bureau detectives and forensics nurses. “We have determined conclusively that no forcible sexual assault or burglary occurred, no strangers were involved and there is no need for public alarm. We are confident the investigation will reach a logical conclusion. “Confidentiality and privacy are necessary in all such investigations, so we will be unable to provide further details.” UPDATE: The investigation continues into the sex assault that occurred in San Dimas Friday morning. Sheriff's detectives are continuing to work leads, according to Cpt. Andy Berg of the San Dimas Sheriff's Station. Because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, no other details are available. A previous description of a suspect provided during a Sheriff's crime broadcast was incorrect, Berg said. PREVIOUSLY - An underage girl was hospitalized Friday after being reportedly sexually assaulted. The crime was reported to deputies around 11:20 a.m. at Cypress Street and Lone Hill Avenue. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital to be examined, according to Sgt. Michael McGrattan of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. |
