A mother and her boy had just arrived home after going shopping for food January 13. A gunman in a vehicle drove by and opened fire towards the woman in the vehicle. The child was struck by gunfire and was transported to an area hospital by family members, according to Sgt. Pulito of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. “He was in stable condition when he got to the hospital and was later discharged,” Pulito told SGV CityWatch. The shooting unfolded in the 14200 block of Nelson Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Pulito did not know if the woman, or a specific home nearby was the intended target. No one else was injured. Pulito did not have a vehicle, or suspect description available. A Hispanic man in his late 20s received as many as four gunshot wounds And was possibly taken to the hospital by a friend or family member January 4, according to Sgt. Molina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. Deputies were informed of the shooting around 8:30 p.m. Being told that the shooting occurred in the area of East Amar Road and Echelon Avenue, they descended to the location to search for evidence of the shooting. Deputies did not find spent shell casings, but did locate some blood at the scene, Molina told SGV CityWatch. The victim was uncooperative with deputies. A suspect description was unavailable, Molina told SGV CityWatch. Authorities released photos of two vehicles involved in the murder of Luis Rivera, 40. A black Chevrolet SUV and a red Ford Lincoln SUV were at the scene of the shooting July 1, 2019, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Rivera died at the scene of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - No victims of gunfire were found, or turned up at area hospitals Tuesday night after a man was arrested for firing a handgun in a La Puente neighborhood, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said. Deputies responded to several calls of gunfire between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The gunfire was heard near Willow and Nelson avenues and Sandia Avenue and Homeward Street. Witnesses reported seeing a man firing a handgun into the air, according to Lt. Baker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect fled in a vehicle after the shootings. During a search of the area, deputies located the suspect on Tonopah Avenue as he fled from the vehicle and ran towards a home, Baker told SGV CityWatch. The suspect was eventually located in some bushes he was using as a cover near a residence. No other suspects were sought, baker told SGV CityWatch.
“To our knowledge, we don’t have any victims. We certainly called the local hospitals. Nobody at the hospitals were reporting gunshot victims,” Baker told SGV CityWatch. Deputies reportedly recovered a firearm. Arrested was Javier Rivera, 36. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Sgt. Molina of the Sheriff’s Industry Station. Rivera was found at Nelson and Tonopah avenues, Molina told SGV CityWatch. There is a rumor being perpetrated that a drive-by shooting occurred in La Puente Tuesday night that is connected to the gunfire call. Deputies later discovered that the alleged drive-by turned out to be vandalism to a vehicle caused by a BB gun, Baker told SGV CityWatch. The vandalism occurred at Amar Road and Willow Avenue around 9:45 p.m., just after the gunfire call, Baker told SGV CityWatch. Rivera is being held in lieu of $120,000 bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in Rio Hondo Municipal Court December 4, according to Los Angeles County booking records. A gun was recovered at the scene, 1616 Griffith Ave. Deputies and firefighters were called ot the scene just after 9 a.m. November 9. The man was described as being between 25 to 30 years old, according to Lt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. A janitor discovered the body. As many as five children were on the closed campus, likely there with employees who were working at the school. Everyone was locked down during the response, Long told SGV CityWatch. Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are trying to link this death to call of a man firing a gun nearby at Mullender Avenue and Atwood Street around 10:10 p.m. November 8. The suspect from the Sunday shooting was seen fleeing southbound from Mullender and Atwood. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is investigating. The shooting occurred after 7:30 p.m. around Azusa Avenue and Hurley Street, Sunday, September 20. At least one person in a newer-model, gray, four-door sedan was seen fleeing the area, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station radio traffic. The gray sedan was seen being driven away westbound on Hurley Street towards Dora Guzman Avenue, deputies said. A suspect is described as a Hispanic man around 5 feet 7 inches tall, has a medium build, a buzz cut and wore a white T-shirt and dark pants. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONTEREY PARK – The office of County Supervisor Hilda Solis and the City of La Puente have partnered to offer a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect who shot and killed a young boy last year. The two $10,000 cash rewards will be announced as a press conference that will also feature family of 10-year-old Enrique Sebastian Falcon who was gunned down inside his family vehicle May 17, 2020, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Falcon was accompanied by his family in the vehicle as it was being driven at Hacienda Boulevard and Amar Road in La Puente when gunfire from a nearby vehicle rang out, striking the boy.

A $10,000 reward is offered in the murder of Enrique Sebastian Falcon, who was was fatally wounded in the area of Hacienda Boulevard and Amar Road. Falcon was in a vehicle with family members when he was wounded, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. An unknown suspect in a dark colored sedan opened fire. The boy was struck in the upper torso, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The boy was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, but was eventually transported to County/USC where he died, Koerner said. Deputies initially responded to the area of North Fifth Street and Temple Avenue where the victim ended up. But soon after responding, deputies learned that the shooting took place near the Kentucky Fried Chicken, 939 N. Hacienda Blvd., where they found evidence of the shooting, according to Sheriff’s radio traffic. The structure burned at 13347 E. Temple Ave., around 7:30 a.m. The three-story plywood structure was vacant and under construction, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Investigators were called to determine the cause. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA PUENTE - A man in his 30s was taken to County/USC Medical Center after suffering a gunshot wound, a sheriff’s lieutenant said Thursday.
The man was injured just before 6:30 p.m. at La Puente Firing Range, 16418 Valley Blvd., according to Lt. Petrocelli of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. “It looks as though it was self-inflicted,” Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. “The only thing that was really evident to us via witnesses and video at the scene, it appears as though it was self-inflicted.” The man’s current condition was not immediately known. The firing range was operational at the time of the shooting and apparently unaffected by the mandatory COVID-19 shutdown ordered by the state of California. “To my understanding, he was using the range as intended up until he turned the weapon on himself,” Petrocelli told SGV CityWatch. No one else was harmed at the shooting range. |
