Officers from the Monrovia Police Department arrived to the scene in the 400 block of West Duarte Road after being called to a shots fired report at 8:19 p.m. The man was found suffering a gunshot wound to the upper torso, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The time of death was pronounced at 8:26 p.m., according to Monrovia Police radio traffic. Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau arrived to take over the investigation and canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence. Investigators have not revealed the type of business the man was shot at. Monrovia officers have been in contact with the business owner who was called to the scene. The victims were shot on the street as they neared a McDonald’s, 480 W. Huntington Dr., just before 10 p.m. December 5. The victims fled in a vehicle and wound up at a residence where police and paramedics converged to provide aid, according to Monrovia Police radio traffic. One victim may have been shot in an arm, the second victim may have been shot in the back, according to preliminary information. It is not clear how many crime scenes there may be. Arcadia officers assisting Monrovia Police found ballistics damage at one building, while more evidence was located in the 300 block of West Duarte Road. Irwindale officers and El Monte officers are also assisting Monrovia. Officers responding to a call of gunfire in the 400 block of East Maple Avenue found a man suffering two gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The shooting took place at Recreation Park, 620 S. Shamrock Ave., around 7:20 p.m. November 6. The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated, according to Monrovia Police Department Sgt. Kevin Oberon. The victim was wounded twice by gunfire. His injuries are considered not life-threatening, according to the Monrovia Police Department in a written statement. The attempted murder suspect remains at-large. A group of people had gathered at the park for some sort of an event. The focus of the gathering was not immediately clear, Oberon told SGV CityWatch. Evidence from the shooting was collected at the scene. A motive remains unclear, Monrovia Police said. The shooting took place around 2:30 a.m. in the 800 block of West Foothill Boulevard. The victim was found wounded in a leg in an alley between North Garfield Place and North McKinley Place, according to Sgt. Chad Harvey of the Monrovia Police Department.
“We’re still working in suspect information,” Harvey told SGV CityWatch. A motive is still unknown. The victim was not too cooperative with investigators, Harvey told SGV CityWatch. The gunfire was reported at West Chestnut Avenue and South Mayflower Avenue around 2:11 a.m. May 24. The shell casings were found in the street. A party was going on nearby, but no one was injured, according to Sgt. Coleman of the Monrovia Police Department. A suspect description was not obtained. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor MONROVIA - A shooting victim crashed after fleeing the scene of the crime Tuesday night. The man was shot in one of his extremities in the 1700 block of South Mountain Avenue July 30 around 9:30 p.m. The victim drove himself from the scene and crashed near his home in the 400 block of Genoa Street, according to Sgt. John Donchig of the Monrovia Police Department. Officers initially responded to a traffic collision call on Genoa and discovered the driver was shot. The victim crashed into a curb. “We have one gunshot victim who was taken to a hospital. He is stable,” Donchig said. Officers recovered evidence related to the shooting, but Donchig did not know what was specifically recovered.
Donchig did not have any confirmation on suspect descriptions or a suspect vehicle and that the involvement of a second vehicle is unconfirmed. The injuries likely resulted from a suicide attempt in the 1600 block of Mountain Avenue July 5. One adult was taken to an area hospital. Their condition was not immediately known, according to Sgt. Glen Coleman of the Monrovia Police Department. The incident unfolded just before 3 p.m.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station were initially called, but the incident was determined to be in Monrovia’s jurisdiction, Coleman said. No one else was involved or injured. |
