COVINA - A massive tree fell and destroyed two cars after rain-soaked soil gave way Saturday.
The tree fell in the 500 block of Hurst Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Firefighters were dispatched to a report of wires down at the location initially, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The tree fell across the two-way residential street, taking out a black Toyota Corolla S and damaging a silver Nissa Maxima.
Workers from the City of Covina removed the debris chunk by massive chunk.
Crews from Southern California Edison were also on scene and to assess possible damage to power lines.
Communities across SoCal experienced similar issues as a powerful winter storm swept across the region, downing trees and causing floods and mudslides.
