The crash occurred on eastbound Arrow Highway at A Street around 12:25 p.m. Emergency personnel arrived, located the victim laying in the roadway and transported the man to an area hospital where he later died, according to the La Verne Police Department. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. All eastbound lanes of Arrow Highway from Wheeler to A Street and one westbound lane from A Street to B Street were closed for several hours during an investigation. The neighborhood will soon be repopulated, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. LA VERNE - A tree fell and damaged a natural gas line in the county portion of the La Verne foothills Sunday afternoon. Five homes are affected by the severed gas line: residents in two homes will shelter in place and two have been evacuated. A bed-ridden resident has been assisted out by firefighters and an ambulance, according to a battalion chief with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were called to the 4500 block of Lower Live Oak Canyon Road for an odor investigation at 1:42 p.m. July 28. Deputies are on scene assisting with a perimeter, according to Lt. Ed Mackenzie of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station.
A perimeter has been set up around the affected home and deputies have blocked traffic into the area, according to fire department radio traffic. The gas company and SoCal Edison are on scene. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LA VERNE - A female passenger was declared dead at a local hospital July 22 after becoming critically-injured in a multi-vehicle crash. The collision occurred at Foothill Boulevard and Moreno Avenue around 2:40 p.m. July 22. The passenger was found unconscious & not breathing in one of the vehicles, according to the La Verne Police Department. La Verne Firefighters rendered aid at the scene and transported the passenger to a hospital where she was declared dead, La Verne Police said. The La Verne Police Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating. Affected roads were closed for hours, but were reopened by 8:11 p.m. |
