 PHOTO by Aaron Castrejon. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A motorcyclist was taken to a trauma center Thursday afternoon and died after colliding with a sedan, an Azusa Police Lieutenant said.
The collision occurred around 2:32 p.m. February 20 at the intersection of Arrow Highway and Vincent Avenue. A motorcycle rider was heading eastbound on Arrow Highway and possibly lost control of his motorcycle, potentially heading into opposing traffic where the rider collided head-on with a sedan, according to Lieutenant Jorge Sandoval of the Azusa Police Department. Azusa police publicized news of the riders death around 5:37 p.m. Speed may have played a factor in the crash, Sandoval said. The intersection remains closed. Eastbound Arrow Highway at Aton in Irwindale remains blocked, as well as northbound Vincent Avenue at Chadmont Street. Westbound traffic at Burwood Avenue is also blocked.  Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA – 17 shell casings were found in the street right outside an Azusa apartment building Sunday night. Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of South Vincent Avenue around 8:28 p.m. February 16. Officers arrived and found no victims and could not find any damage to nearby structures, according to Sgt. Bailey of the Azusa Police Department. There no suspect or vehicle description available. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A 19-year-old driver received minor injuries after crashing through an occupied home Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 1:17 p.m. in the 100 block of South Pasadena Avenue. The driver struck a fence before going through a wall at the home where three people in, according to Sergeant Erin Coulter of the Azusa Police Department. An adult and two children inside did not required any treatment, Coulter said. The driver was treated at the scene. Building inspectors with the City of Azusa are examining the home’s structural integrity. It doe not appear drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash, Coulter said. |
