Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A man is spending the night in jail after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Thursday and allegedly kidnapping her four-year-old child, police said.
Christian Porter, a 25-year-old Azusa man, was located and taken into custody without further incident Friday. Police sought him after his ex-girlfriend said he attempted to kidnap her and also assaulted her inside her home. Porter allegedly took off with the victim’s four-year-old daughter, according to the Azusa Police Department. Police responded to 855 S. Citrus Ave. around 9:30 p.m. September 24 to investigate the claims. Porter allegedly drove the child to family members in another town After allegedly kidnapping her. He left her there with family and fled the scene, Azusa police said. The child was medically examined and was reportedly an injured. Porter was booked on suspicion of domestic violence, attempted murder, kidnapping and for a parole hold, according to the Azusa Police Department. Firefighters were dispatched to the 600 block of West Hollyvale Street just after 4 p.m. and found smoke billowing from the rear of the property. Firefighters increased the response to a second alarm, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “It turned out to be a well-involved detached garage,” according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire also threatened nearby structures. A minor of an undisclosed age was hospitalized for unspecified injuries, Pittman told SGV CityWatch. Two residents were displaced. The American Red Cross provided temporary housing for the affected residents. Officers accuse Azusa man Jacob Black, 36, of felony evading, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short barrel shotgun, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, obstructing an officer, driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Glendora Police Department. Glendora Police allege they attempted to perform a traffic stop on Black who allegedly committed a series of traffic violations around 6 a.m. September 16. Black accelerated and led officers on a high-speed chase that ended with a foot pursuit in Azusa, Glendora Police said. Black was stopped and arrested quickly. “While he was being taken into custody, officers found a fully loaded, sawed off shotgun concealed underneath his clothing,” Glendora Police said in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA – A cab driver is recovering from facial lacerations after his rider allegedly stabbed him and took off with his cab, police said. Azusa man Oscar Jacques, 30, was located in the stolen cab in Los Angeles. He led authorities on a pursuit into South Los Angeles where he surrendered without incident, Azusa Police said. The alleged assault and carjacking occurred September 9 around 8:51 a.m. in the 200 block of North Soldano Avenue. Police found only the cab driver with multiple lacerations to his face. He was later hospitalized for his wounds, Azusa Police said.
The suspect and cab were located in Los Angeles. A traffic stop was conducted, but Jacques refused to yield and fled from the California Highway Patrol before he yielded and surrendered without further incident at Florence Avenue and Menlo Avenue, Azusa Police said. Jacques was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, carjacking and failure to yield. He is being held in lieu of $1 million ahead of a scheduled appearance in West Covina Court Monday, September 14. The fire also killed a dog at Arrow Pines Mobile Estates, 1081 W. Arrow Hwy., September 5. Firefighters were dispatched at 11:13 p.m. After arriving, firefighters were able to knock down flames at 11:42 p.m., according to dispatch supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No injuries were reported. There was no word on the cause of the fire. Azusa man Ronaldo Garcia, 20, was remanded to the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after being transported from Mexico. Ronaldo and Rene Garcia, 23, are accused of gunning down 22-year-old Alex Garcia at 170 E. Payson St. November 1, 2019. Rene is still at large. “The Azusa Police Department is grateful to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for their diligent and relentless investigation. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A tip led investigators to a man accused of distributing child pornography out of an Azusa home, police said Wednesday.
Between May and July of 2020, Daniel Carreon, a 26-year-old Azusa man, allegedly transmitted images of child pornography through the Internet, according to the Azusa Police Department. After investigators pegged Carreon as a suspect, a search warrant was served at his Azusa home where he was taken into custody. Carreon was booked on suspicion of possessing child pornography. He was arrested at 7:30 a.m. and eventually released on his own recognizance at 4:34 p.m., according to Los Angeles County booking records. He is scheduled for an initial appearance in West Covina Court Friday, September 4. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA – A man from La Puente and a Rowland Heights man were arrested in recent months for their involvement in a deadly shooting. La Puente man Emmanuel Marquez, 19, and Rowland Heights man Sebastian Garcia, 18, were both booked on suspicion of murder in the 2019 death of John Medrano who was gunned down in broad daylight. A documented gang member, Marquez was also booked for the attempted murder of a teen that was with Medrano when bullets began flying in the 400 block of South Azusa Avenue July 14, 2019. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau and Azusa Police Department worked together to make the arrests. The shooting unfolded near a bus stop on the northeast corner of Azusa Avenue and Gladstone Street near the Sketchers Outlet. Medrano, 24, was wounded multiple times and later died at a hospital. The intended teen victim was uninjured, Azusa Police said. Marquez was arrested July 21. Garcia was arrested August 20. In June, police announced the arrest of the driver of a black 2017 Toyota Corolla 4-DR believed to be the vehicle involved in the shooting.
