AZUSA - A male juvenile was shot in the leg and is expected to survive his wounds suffered from a February 27 shooting.

Juvenile was shot and a 200 block of East Newburgh Street just after 5:30 p.m. Monday. A vehicle was seen fleeing westbound on Newburgh Street, according to Sgt. Bailey of the Azusa Police Department.

Bailey could not describe the vehicle that fled from the scene.

Few other details are publicly available as Azusa Police detectives have now taken over the investigation.

AZUSA - At least one victim was wounded Monday in a shooting in an area that was recently plagued by gun violence.

First responders were dispatched to the 200 block of East Newburgh Street near Donna Bath Avenue around 5:36 p.m. Monday, February 27. The trauma patient was taken to a hospital for a treatment, according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pickett of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Information from the Azusa Police Department was limited at the time this story was launched. It is believed that police will be out at the scene investigating for at least a few hours.

SACRAMENTO - A substantial cache of weapons and ammunition were seized from a Azusa man’s home January 25.

The unidentified man is prohibited from possessing firearms under the state’s Armed and Prohibited Persons System database. Seized were four machine guns, seven assault weapons, a short-barreled rifle, four suppressors/silencers, six handguns, one shotgun, four rifles, 54 lower receivers/frames, 41 standard capacity magazines, 87 large-capacity magazines, and approximately 35,000 rounds of miscellaneous ammunition, according to the DOJ’s office.

Agents initially intended to seize one weapon in question from the suspect, but then discovered the large cache of additional weapons and ammunition after serving a search warrant, according to the DOJ’s office.

The DOJ arrested the man and brought felony charges against him.

The man initially refused to allow agents from the DOJ’s Bureau of Firearms into his home, but agents obtained a search warrant.

The suspect was charged by DOJ’s Criminal Law Division with multiple felonies, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of an assault weapon, intentional conversion of a firearm into a machine gun, possession of a machine gun, unlawful assault weapon activity, unlawful manufacture or possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of a silencer. He was arraigned February 17 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona, according to the DOJ.

“This arrest demonstrates exactly why the Armed and Prohibited Persons system is vital for the safety of our communities,” said Attorney General Bonta. “In our efforts to retrieve just one gun from a prohibited individual, we found dozens of illegal weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition. I am grateful for our Bureau of Firearms agents’ work in getting these illegal weapons out of the hands of this prohibited individual.”

LOS ANGELES - Investigators have identified the man who may have been dumped along a mountain road in Azusa.

Christian Peña, 24, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Investigators have not yet scheduled an examination to determine the cause of death.

A passerby saw the naked body face down in the dirt off to the side of the 2000 block of San Gabriel Canyon Road just before 6:30 a.m. February 13.

Peña was reportedly found suffering gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

AZUSA - A man reportedly found unclothed and face down in the dirt was declared dead at the scene, homicide investigators said.

A passerby reported the body just before 6:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of San Gabriel Canyon Road. There are no obvious signs of death, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

There is reportedly no suspect or weapon information.

AZUSA - A man was found wounded inside in an Azusa home Saturday night after officers responded to a call of a shooting.

The man was found wounded in the 200 block of North Dalton Avenue February 4 around 8:15 p.m. He was hospitalized and was last listed in a stable condition, according to Cpl. Spahr of the Azusa Police Department.

During a Sunday morning interview, Spahr said the motive was still being determined. Officers did obtain suspect information, but Spahr declined to provide that to protect the investigation.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was inside the home along with the victim.
