The fire, dispatched to firefighters at 7:10 p.m., is burning near East Sierra Madre Avenue and Yucca Ridge Road. The fire is burning in steep terrain, is moving slowly and has the potential for 500 acres, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. One helicopter is on scene and at least one additional helicopter is being requested. A full first-alarm brush response has been dispatched. The fire is burning in light to medium vegetation on flat terrain in the 2000 block of North San Gabriel Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The source of the fire, dispatched to firefighters at 12:13 a.m., was not specified. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A transient camp fire ignited a small 10-foot by 30-foot vegetation fire in the San Gabriel Riverbed, firefighters reported. Firefighters were initially dispatched to a medical emergency call at Fish Canyon Road and Van Tassel Motorway at 12:10 a.m. The fire got out of control at the transient camp in the riverbed, but its small size and the rain beginning to fall are helping to extinguish it, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The one-quarter-acre fire was reported to firefighters at 4:36 p.m. in the 16000 block of Foothill Boulevard. Firefighters were dispatched at 4:38 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was no threat to nearby homes or businesses, according to Officer Mike Bires of the Azusa Police Department. The two engines assigned to the fire cleared the scene within 20 minutes, Flores said. |
