At least two suspects were caught on surveillance video taking bikes from Irwindale Cycles, 15708 Arrow Hwy., around 1:12 a.m. The suspects entered after prying open a rear door, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Both suspects were masked up to hide their faces, but one criminal slipped up and got his face photographed after slipping away to the L Line train. A passenger thought the presence of new expensive bikes on the train suspicious and took a photo. Both suspects are described as Latino men standing 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 165 to 185 pounds and have dark hair. One suspect wore a gray raiders hat, gray polo shirt, dark jeans and black and white tennis shoes. The second suspect wore a plaid button-down shirt, gray pants and black tennis shoes. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - A motorcyclist died after colliding with a Honda Civic on Arrow Highway Friday evening.
The crash was reported to first responders on Arrow Highway at Morada Street around 7:10 p.m. August 18. The rider on a 2021 Honda Rebel was westbound on Arrow Highway. The motorcycle crashed into the 2014 Honda Civic, which was turning west onto Arrow from southbound Morada Street, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene. He was only described as a male adult. The driver of the Honda Civic remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. It is not yet clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Arrow Highway from Vincent Avenue to Ayon Avenue was closed for five hours during an investigation by the Irwindale Police Department, which was assisted by the Baldwin Park, Azusa and Glendora police departments. The incident occurred around 11:52 p.m. The suspect used a rock to shatter the door then fled the area, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The suspect is described as a Latino male with a light complexion, thin build and dark hair. He wore a black t-shirt, blue baseball hat with a logo, gray pants with a black belt and white shoes, possibly Nikes. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Officers discovered freshly-stolen underground conduit reportedly taken from an industrial yard April 30. The theft took place at a utility yard operated by Henkels & McCoy, 13570 Live Oak Ln., Sunday morning. Arriving officers found a white SUV inside of the property, which is highly restricted. The vehicle failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop and it was driven a short distance before three occupants inside ran away, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The three suspects scaled a perimeter fence and ran onto lanes of the nearby 605 freeway. All three suspects were found and taken into custody. Amongst the stolen conduit were burglary tools likely used in the grand theft. Arrested was West Covina resident Eric Graham, 37, Jesus Soto, 33, and Abraham Saldivar, 39. The latter two are residents of El Monte. All three suspects were booked on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools and delay/resist a police officer in the course of duty charges. They also had a number of various outstanding warrants, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “This call happened during our shift overlap. John Shin, a 33-year-old Baldwin Park man, was found at his home in the 5000 block of Azusa Canyon Road just before 2:30 a.m. April 30. Detectives spoke with the resident and after questioning, arrested Shin as the hit and run suspect, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Shin was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run. Shin posted $50,000 bond and was released from custody. His vehicle, which was towed from his home, is being held as evidence, according to the Irwindale Police Department. A Jan’s Towing employee discovered the man’s body around 12:30 p.m. once the vehicle was taken to the tow yard, 1045 W. Kirkwall Rd., in Azusa, April 26. Irwindale officers arrived, searched the vehicle and discovered the body of a woman, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The vehicle was towed from an Arco gas station At 110 E. Longden Rd. at the request of the property owner. Irwindale police detectives conducted investigations at the tow yard and at the gas station. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics formally declared both the man and woman dead at the scene. The cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner. The police stopped the 14-year-old at 7:30 a.m. at Bogart Street and Ramona Boulevard. The vehicle was reported stolen just one day prior, according to Sgt. Cornejo of the Irwindale Police Department. The teen was released to a legal guardian and is facing Grandtheft auto charge, Cornejo told SGV CityWatch. Rigoberto Nunez, 20, was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died from blunt traumatic injuries. His death was ruled accidental. The coroner case is deemed closed and investigators did not list any drug or alcohol intoxication as potential contributing factors. Nunez was southbound on Irwindale Avenue south of Central Street around 12:40 a.m. Saturday March 25 when the crash happened. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics declared Nunez dead at the scene, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Nunez was the Honda’s only occupant. No other vehicles were involved. First responders were called around 3:18 p.m. to dam, 15501 Arrow Hwy, Sunday, February 26. Santa Fe Dam personnel called firefighters to report a person hanging from a tree, according to dispatch supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles county fire department. The body was located in or near a tree by the southwest portion of the dam away from an area normally occupied by park goers. |
