Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch IRWINDALE - Two armed teens, with the help of a woman, robbed a victim of a Rolex watch during an OfferUp transaction in Irwindale New Year’s Eve.
The robbery occurred in the 15800 block of Arrow Highway around 1:57 p.m. December 31. The victim met with the woman, identified as Anabella Scott, 18. During the transaction, Scott allegedly motioned to two males in masks who approached with handguns, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “Both suspects pointed a handgun and demanded the Rolex. The victim surrendered the Rolex,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. The trio fled in a black Kia sedan. Irwindale detectives were able to identify Scott as a suspect and located her residence in Desert Hot Springs. With the assistance of Desert Hot Springs police detectives, a search warrant was served at the home where the stolen Rolex watch and two handguns were recovered. Scott and two teens at the home were arrested. Scott and the teens were booked on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The teens were issued a citation and released to their parents with a court date pending. Scott is being held in the West Covina jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in the West Covina courthouse Wednesday January 4. Miguel Beltran Aranda, 30, was stopped in the 5200 block of Vincent Avenue October 22. In addition to the cocaine and loaded 9mm handgun, officers discovered Aranda’s license was expired, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Aranda was booked on suspicion of drug-related offenses and for carrying a loaded handgun in the vehicle. He later posted $35,000 bond and was released, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Martis Diontrea Thomas, 43, allegedly fought and resisted officers who had to break open windows to the locked vehicle after he failed to respond to attempts to wake him. The officers feared Thomas may have been under the influence, or suffering from a medical condition, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Officers were called to the rock quarry in the 13500 block of Live Oak Avenue just after 6 a.m. July 5. The loaded and unregistered handgun was found concealed on Thomas, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Thomas was medically cleared to be booked on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possessing a concealed firearm inside a vehicle and possessing an unregistered firearm. Thomas was released on $35,000 bond after being booked at the West Covina jail, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Dominique Dashann Walker, 37, and Janae Deannah Applewhite, 30, were arrested and booked on suspicion of carjacking, possession of a stolen vehicle and other related charges, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Patrol officers located the stolen red sedan, which was taken from San Bernardino. Both suspects were found occupying the stolen vehicle just before midnight October 3 at Irwindale Avenue south of First Street, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The replica handgun was allegedly used in the carjacking, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Walker, a Rialto resident, and Applewhite, a San Bernardino resident, were held in lieu of $100,000 bail. It is unclear Monday morning if the suspects remain jailed. Police responded to the 600 block of Live Oak Avenue around 6:37 a.m. to a call of an armed man holding an ambulance driver and his coworker at gunpoint. the driver fled, but officers found the suspect in a red 2015 Peterbilt semi at Live Oak Avenue and Myrtle Avenue and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The suspect committed several dangerous violations of the California Vehicle Code during a slow speed chase. He briefly escaped on foot after stopping at Peck Road and Wayland Way in Monrovia, but he was taken into custody. “The officers were forced to physically detain the suspect, during which an electro-muscular disruption technology (EMDT) device was successfully deployed. He was then arrested without further incident,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from the suspect, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Investigators learned the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Jonathan Gomez from El Paso, Texas, brandished the handgun and fired it at at least two motorists. “In one instance, the suspect fired upon a disabled motorist, forcing him to run across the freeway and in another instance, the suspect fired into an occupied vehicle, striking the vehicle with gunfire. Luckily no one was injured in any of these incidents,” according to the Irwindale Police Department. Gomez was medically cleared and eventually jailed. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. He potentially faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, resisting arrest, evading arrest, driving under the influence of drugs and a number of weapons violations, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Officers attempted to stop Lewis Rayshur Searles, 31, for a vehicle code violation early Saturday morning, but he fled into Duarte where he was taken into custody, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Searles was arrested around 5:11 a.m. June 19, according to Los Angeles County booking records. A leaded handgun, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered in the vehicle Searles drove, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Searles is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail. He was scheduled for an appearance in the West Covina Courthouse June 22, according to Los Angeles County booking records. |
