First responders were called around 3:18 p.m. to dam, 15501 Arrow Hwy, Sunday, February 26. Santa Fe Dam personnel called firefighters to report a person hanging from a tree, according to dispatch supervisor Melanie Flores of the Los Angeles county fire department. The body was located in or near a tree by the southwest portion of the dam away from an area normally occupied by park goers. IRWINDALE - A collision between a motorcycle and an unspecified truck has closed all except for the fast lane of the southbound 605 freeway just south of Live Oak Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. The Live Oak Avenue on ramp is also closed. The collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 5:39 p.m. November 20. The male was found dead in the area of Brooks Drive and Rivergrade around 11:30 a.m. February 17, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. It is not yet publicly clear how long the victim was there and if the wounds were self-inflicted or not. IRWINDALE - A grass fire with a rapid rate of spread is burning inside Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area in Irwindale Sunday afternoon. As of 4:35 p.m., roughly one half acre has burned inside the dam. Units en route to the dam could already see a very large smoke column from several miles out. A full first alarm brush response is being sent to the Dam, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. All lanes of Longden Avenue between Live Oak Avenue and Myrtle Avenue will be closed likely into the late night for a traffic collision investigation, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The collision occurred around 5:11 p.m. June 11, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. No one else was involved in a crash. The rider died at the scene, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor 7:04 p.m.: All southbound traffic lanes of the 605 freeway at Lower Azusa Road reopened at 7:02 p.m., hours after a shooting investigation yielded evidence that a shooting did take place, leading to a crash, the California Highway Patrol said.
IRWINDALE - The California Highway Patrol has shut down all southbound lanes of the 605 freeway north of Lower Azusa Road until further notice after a vehicle crashed into the center divider after a possible shooting. The CHP was called around 5:13 p.m. to investigate the crash of a white BMW into the center divider, according to Officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol. Preliminary information from CHP radio traffic indicates that the vehicle was hit possibly twice, causing damage to the windshield. Officers are now combing the freeway to look for any possible bullet casings, But it is not clear exactly what could have hit the BMW. While Kravig understands that the crash may have resulted from a possible shooting, she has yet to confirm with officers in the field if a shooting did occur. There has been no confirmation on injuries. A vehicle possibly tied to this incident is a blue or black sedan. The Irwindale Police Department has been called to assist with blocking traffic from entering the on ramp at Lower Azusa Road. A tow truck has been requested to haul away the victims vehicle for evidence, according to California Highway Patrol radio traffic. About 25 to 30 homeless living in the area of the fire were evacuated. As a precaution, firefighters have ordered Santa Fe Dam closed, even though the fire is moving northeast. IRWINDALE - A 10-acre brushfire is burning inside Irwindale’s Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were dispatched at 2:52 PM. The fire is currently running northbound and no structures are threatened, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Irwindale police are also on scene at the brushfire and report that no evacuations are ordered. 20 to 30-mile-per-hour winds are helping the roughly-two-acre fire to spot roughly one-quarter mile ahead of the main fire, firefighters said at the scene. Firefighters are entering through West First Street and South Peckham Road on the north side of the dam and are amassing near the nature center. The direction the fire is moving will have it run into an area where fuels will be late. Firefighters believe that the fire was extinguished yourself out, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. Javier Prado, 31, was found after investigators located his Ford F-150 Raptor in the 1100 block of Newburgh Street in Azusa. He was arrested without incident, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Prado was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and was held in lieu of $50,000 bail, Irwindale Police said. Prado is accused of fatally striking a pedestrian in northbound lanes of North Irwindale Avenue at the 210 freeway just before 5:30 a.m. February 9. A passerby reported a man down on the asphalt, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighter paramedics worked on the victim and transported him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he later died. The victim’s identity is not yet publicly revealed. He is only described as being in his 50s, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Prado was issued a citation and released at 5:30 p.m. He is scheduled to appear in the West Covina courthouse February 16, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Based on the evidence and witness accounts gathered at the scene, the pedestrian was struck in northbound lanes of Irwindale Avenue at the 210 freeway around 5:28 a.m February 9, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. The driver of a grey 2015-2017 Ford F-150 Raptor fled the scene. The truck should have front end damage on the right side, Irwindale Police said. First responders found the male victim on the pavement. He suffered significant traumatic Injuries. Firefighters treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a nearby trauma center. He later succumbed to his injuries, Gatto said. Firefighters were called by a passerby who reported seeing the man already down in lanes of traffic at 5:26 a.m. Traffic lanes on Irwindale Avenue at the 210 freeway were mostly closed for about six hours while members of the Irwindale Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit processed the scene with help from the Covina Police Department and Azusa Police Department. The victim’s personal belongings, including his shoes, were left strewn across the roadway.
