Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in a crash that sent a car into the glass doors of a market Monday night. The crash occurred at Ayutla Meat Market, 16022 Arrow Hwy., around 8:12 p.m. The driver likely mistook the gas pedal for the brake as he was parking and sent the car through the front of the market, according to the Irwindale Police Department.
“A female clerk inside the market was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries,” Irwindale Police said. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The fire has burned at least two acres in the riverbed south of Live Oak Avenue west of the 605 freeway. Firefighters have hoses on both flanks of the blaze, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire is burning all on locally-controlled land. The fire has the potential to burn five to seven acres. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Deputies aided by a helicopter and a neighboring agency could not locate a man reportedly armed with a handgun at the Irwindale Gold Line Station early Wednesday.
A deputy observing live security video around 1 a.m. July 10 witnessed a man remove what appeared to be a handgun from a backpack and place it in his waistband, according to Ramon Montenegro, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. The suspect likely fled the station platform quickly. Deputies believed the suspect ran to the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area, Montenegro said. East and west Gold Line trains were held at the Duarte and Azusa Downtown stations for roughly 30 minutes during the search, Montenegro said. Irwindale Police assisted deputies with a containment. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Two people had to be cut out of a vehicle after a collision late Thursday night. The collision occurred at Foothill Boulevard and Irwindale Avenue between two vehicles around 11:02 p.m. July 4. Two patients suffering critical injuries were cut from one of the vehicles, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A third patient received moderate injuries. The critical patients met trauma center criteria and were taken to County/USC Medical Center. The other patient was taken to Foothill Presbyterian. |
