Construction, which will close all eastbound lanes, is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 and conclude at 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, according to Caltrans. Closures:
Drivers should expect major delays for the duration of the 126-hour closure. Consider alternate routes including the I-10, or 60 freeways and to consider public transportation on the Metrolink, or Metro L Line lightrail train. Work being done will complete a construction project to upgrade existing bridge hinges and railings and to strengthen the bridge decks on the freeway over the San Gabriel River as part of the $30 million renovation project, which includes $1.7 million from SB-1: the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. Westbound traffic in the closure area will be diverted to the eastbound side, which will be converted to three lanes in both directions, according to Caltrans. Crews will be upgrading the San Gabriel River Bridge hinges, railings and strengthening bridge decks as part of a $30 million project. $1.7 million of the funding comes from SB 1 funds via the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. “Caltrans advises motorists to expect delays, seek alternate routes or use public transportation on the Metro L Line (Gold) or Metrolink during the closures,’ according to Caltrans in a written statement.
