CityWatch Editor UPDATE, 12:42 p.m.: The rupture has been secured and further repairs are taking place. Evacuations have been lifted, according to the Irwindale Police Department IRWINDALE - Homes and businesses have been evacuated near a construction site Tuesday morning. Construction work being done at the city library, 16053 Calle de Paseo, led to a gas line rupture, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “City facilities & homes on the 16000 blk of Calle de Paseo evacuated as a precaution,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. All homes within a 300-foot radius near the rupture have been asked to evacuate, according to the City of Irwindale. The rupture occurred around 11:09 a.m. Los Angeles County Firefighters and gas company workers are on scene.  Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - The second portion of a large-scale construction project to rehabilitate the 210 Freeway bridge over the San Gabriel river is scheduled to start August 17.
Construction, which will close all eastbound lanes, is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 and conclude at 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, according to Caltrans. Closures:
Drivers should expect major delays for the duration of the 126-hour closure. Consider alternate routes including the I-10, or 60 freeways and to consider public transportation on the Metrolink, or Metro L Line lightrail train. Work being done will complete a construction project to upgrade existing bridge hinges and railings and to strengthen the bridge decks on the freeway over the San Gabriel River as part of the $30 million renovation project, which includes $1.7 million from SB-1: the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. Westbound traffic in the closure area will be diverted to the eastbound side, which will be converted to three lanes in both directions, according to Caltrans.
