Mark Anthony Quintanilla, 25, attempted to take a woman’s purse at knifepoint Saturday in the 4300 block of Irwindale Avenue around 7:02 p.m., according to the Irwindale Police Department. Quintanilla then allegedly chased a witness to the attempted robbery and threatened that witness with a knife. A second witness fled to the safety of a vehicle after also allegedly being chased by Quintanilla who also struck the victim’s ride, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “Quintanilla fled into a nearby residential area before officers arrived, however he was located hiding under a vehicle in the 15000 block of Ballentine Place and was arrested without incident,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. Quintanilla, a West Covina resident, was booked on suspicion of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats. Quintanilla is being held in the West Covina Police jail in lieu of $70,000 bail ahead of a scheduled appearance in the West Covina Courthouse November 23. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE – Nearly 10 ounces of cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered during a traffic stop, according to the Irwindale Police Department.
Officers searched the vehicle after discovering neither occupant had a valid driver license. Officers initially stopped the driver of the 2003 Lexus for a vehicle code violation, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “The vehicle was impounded and the officers subsequently found the drugs and paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Both subjects were arrested and booked at the jail,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. Lancaster resident David Rene Galindo, 46, was booked suspicion of narcotics offenses and was released on a citation. Erika Valadez, a 27-year-old Pasadena resident, was also booked on suspicion of narcotics offenses, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Valadez is being held without bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility ahead of a scheduled appearance in Los Angeles Municipal Court November 9. Minor Injuries Reported After Foothill Transit Bus Collides with Street Sweeper in Irwindale11/5/2021 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE – Three people were hospitalized, including a bus passenger, after a Foothill Transit bus and a street sweeper collided Thursday afternoon.
The northbound Foothill Transit bus collided with the street sweeper, which was also northbound around 12:40 p.m. November 4. The bus was transporting only one passenger at the time, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics treated all three patients who were eventually taken to nearby hospitals. It appears the Foothill Transit bus rear-ended the street sweeper, according to photos from the Irwindale Police Department. “The cause of this traffic collision remains under investigation, however it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement.
