The driver of a green SUV reportedly struck and killed the pedestrian who, according to initial reports, was running across lanes of the westbound 210 freeway Near Irwindale Ave.October 1. CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives are assisting the Irwindale Police Department with a shooting death Sunday. The incident unfolded near the 605 freeway south of the 210 freeway around 10:30 a.m. May 26. The victim, only described as a male adult, was declared dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau. The exact circumstances surrounding the homicide are not publicly known. The California Highway Patrol has intermittently shut down the transition roads from the east 210 and west 210 freeway to the southbound 605, as well as the Arrow Highway on ramp to the north 605 freeway and Mt. Olive on ramp to the southbound 605 freeway during the operation. SGV CityWatch readers who traversed the freeway closures witnessed police in tactical gear, guns trained on an unspecified target. CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - A man was found dead Wednesday under the 210 freeway in the northern portion of Irwindale. First responders were called around 1:44 p.m. regarding a man found unresponsive on a dirt access road near the Bradbury flood control channel under the 210 freeway in the 2300 block of Central Avenue. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics declared the man dead at the scene, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Irwindale detectives are determining what led up to the man’s death, while investigators with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner are determining the cause. The motorcyclist was found on the extension of the San Gabriel River Trail bike path just east of City of Hope January 21. Officers attempted to stop the motorcyclist around 1:49 a.m., but he refused, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The pursuit reached speeds of 79 miles an hour. The rider, identified as 33-year-old El Monte man Sergio Alejandro Tejada Perez, bailed from the stolen motorcycle and tried to hide in some bushes near the 605 freeway and 210 freeway interchange. Perez was booked on suspicion of evading, possession of a stolen vehicle and drug paraphernalia charges. Law enforcement apparently pursued the driver from Bell Gardens to the Irwindale area where the driver crashed up an embankment near Santa Fe Dam and disabled the Kia Sportage the suspect was driving around 9:30 p.m. September 25. Earlier during the pursuit in Santa Fe Springs, the suspect stopped and barricaded inside the Kia Sportage for about 45 minutes before allegedly using the vehicle against a CHP cruiser to escape, according to KCAL 9 news. Traffic on the northbound 605 freeway near Arrow Highway was blocked while the suspect refused to exit. When the suspect did finally exit, a K9 helped to take the suspect down. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Officers discovered freshly-stolen underground conduit reportedly taken from an industrial yard April 30. The theft took place at a utility yard operated by Henkels & McCoy, 13570 Live Oak Ln., Sunday morning. Arriving officers found a white SUV inside of the property, which is highly restricted. The vehicle failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop and it was driven a short distance before three occupants inside ran away, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The three suspects scaled a perimeter fence and ran onto lanes of the nearby 605 freeway. All three suspects were found and taken into custody. Amongst the stolen conduit were burglary tools likely used in the grand theft. Arrested was West Covina resident Eric Graham, 37, Jesus Soto, 33, and Abraham Saldivar, 39. The latter two are residents of El Monte. All three suspects were booked on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools and delay/resist a police officer in the course of duty charges. They also had a number of various outstanding warrants, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “This call happened during our shift overlap. Officers who worked the previous shift had already changed out, heard the call go out over the radio, suited back up and responded to assist,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. “One officer was already on his way home and returned.” Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - The man arrested January 29 and accused of terrorizing at least 10 other drivers over was briefly stopped by Irwindale Police late last year.
Nathaniel Walter Radimak, 36, was stopped November 25, 2022 in the 4900 block of Irwindale Avenue around 11 a.m. He was initially stopped for a vehicle code violation. He was cited for driving without a license, according to Sgt. Diego Cornejo of the Irwindale Police Department. After months of eluding arrest, Radimak, a Los Angeles resident, was identified and arrested in Torrance by the California Highway Patrol. He is accused of assault with a deadly weapon, which was infamously caught on a dashboard camera January 11. The attack occurred on the 2 freeway near York Boulevard in Los Angeles, according to the CHP. Radimak was caught on camera allegedly committing multiple other attacks that were also in Atwater Village, Pasadena and Echo Park. Radimak was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in lieu of more than $5 million bail in the Los Angeles Police Department 77th Street jail. He also has at least two outstanding warrants. Court date information was not readily available. IRWINDALE - A collision between a motorcycle and an unspecified truck has closed all except for the fast lane of the southbound 605 freeway just south of Live Oak Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. The Live Oak Avenue on ramp is also closed. The collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 5:39 p.m. November 20. Construction, which will close all eastbound lanes, is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 and conclude at 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, according to Caltrans. Closures:
Drivers should expect major delays for the duration of the 126-hour closure. Consider alternate routes including the I-10, or 60 freeways and to consider public transportation on the Metrolink, or Metro L Line lightrail train. Work being done will complete a construction project to upgrade existing bridge hinges and railings and to strengthen the bridge decks on the freeway over the San Gabriel River as part of the $30 million renovation project, which includes $1.7 million from SB-1: the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. |
