The motorcyclist was found on the extension of the San Gabriel River Trail bike path just east of City of Hope January 21. Officers attempted to stop the motorcyclist around 1:49 a.m., but he refused, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The pursuit reached speeds of 79 miles an hour. The rider, identified as 33-year-old El Monte man Sergio Alejandro Tejada Perez, bailed from the stolen motorcycle and tried to hide in some bushes near the 605 freeway and 210 freeway interchange. Perez was booked on suspicion of evading, possession of a stolen vehicle and drug paraphernalia charges. Law enforcement apparently pursued the driver from Bell Gardens to the Irwindale area where the driver crashed up an embankment near Santa Fe Dam and disabled the Kia Sportage the suspect was driving around 9:30 p.m. September 25. Earlier during the pursuit in Santa Fe Springs, the suspect stopped and barricaded inside the Kia Sportage for about 45 minutes before allegedly using the vehicle against a CHP cruiser to escape, according to KCAL 9 news. Traffic on the northbound 605 freeway near Arrow Highway was blocked while the suspect refused to exit. When the suspect did finally exit, a K9 helped to take the suspect down. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Officers discovered freshly-stolen underground conduit reportedly taken from an industrial yard April 30. The theft took place at a utility yard operated by Henkels & McCoy, 13570 Live Oak Ln., Sunday morning. Arriving officers found a white SUV inside of the property, which is highly restricted. The vehicle failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop and it was driven a short distance before three occupants inside ran away, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The three suspects scaled a perimeter fence and ran onto lanes of the nearby 605 freeway. All three suspects were found and taken into custody. Amongst the stolen conduit were burglary tools likely used in the grand theft. Arrested was West Covina resident Eric Graham, 37, Jesus Soto, 33, and Abraham Saldivar, 39. The latter two are residents of El Monte. All three suspects were booked on suspicion of grand theft, possession of burglary tools and delay/resist a police officer in the course of duty charges. They also had a number of various outstanding warrants, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “This call happened during our shift overlap. Officers who worked the previous shift had already changed out, heard the call go out over the radio, suited back up and responded to assist,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. “One officer was already on his way home and returned.” Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - The man arrested January 29 and accused of terrorizing at least 10 other drivers over was briefly stopped by Irwindale Police late last year.
Nathaniel Walter Radimak, 36, was stopped November 25, 2022 in the 4900 block of Irwindale Avenue around 11 a.m. He was initially stopped for a vehicle code violation. He was cited for driving without a license, according to Sgt. Diego Cornejo of the Irwindale Police Department. After months of eluding arrest, Radimak, a Los Angeles resident, was identified and arrested in Torrance by the California Highway Patrol. He is accused of assault with a deadly weapon, which was infamously caught on a dashboard camera January 11. The attack occurred on the 2 freeway near York Boulevard in Los Angeles, according to the CHP. Radimak was caught on camera allegedly committing multiple other attacks that were also in Atwater Village, Pasadena and Echo Park. Radimak was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held in lieu of more than $5 million bail in the Los Angeles Police Department 77th Street jail. He also has at least two outstanding warrants. Court date information was not readily available. IRWINDALE - A collision between a motorcycle and an unspecified truck has closed all except for the fast lane of the southbound 605 freeway just south of Live Oak Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. The Live Oak Avenue on ramp is also closed. The collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 5:39 p.m. November 20. Construction, which will close all eastbound lanes, is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 and conclude at 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, according to Caltrans. Closures:

A big rig hauling 22,000 pounds of freight crashed into another large vehicle, possibly a garbage truck or street sweeper, just after 5 a.m. June 20. A wrecker tow truck has been called for the semi with major front end damage, according to the California Highway Patrol. Irwindale Police were called to investigate reports of impatient driver exiting the wrong way onto Arrow Highway. IRWINDALE – A 126-hour closure of the westbound 210 freeway in Irwindale is scheduled for mid-July, Caltrans announced recently. The closure is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 13 at 11 p.m. and end Tuesday, July 19 at 4 a.m., CLOSURES: West 210 freeway from Irwindale Avenue to the 605 freeway Westbound 210 on ramps at Irwindale Avenue Connector to the south 605 from the west 210 Connector from the north 605 to the east 210, according to Caltrans Westbound traffic in the closure area will be diverted to the eastbound side, which will be converted to three lanes in both directions, according to Caltrans. Crews will be involved in upgrading the San Gabriel River bridge hinges, railings and strengthening bridge decks as part of a $30 million project. $1.7 million of the funding comes from SB 1 funds via the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. “Caltrans advises motorists to expect delays, seek alternate routes or use public transportation on the Metro L Line (Gold) or Metrolink during the closures,’ according to Caltrans in a written statement. The collision was reported around 7:34 a.m. on the westbound 210 freeway at the southbound 605 freeway. A motorcyclist died in the HOV lane after apparently colliding with a black BMW SUV, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. An off-duty firefighter reportedly stopped to assist with the crash and preliminarily determined that the rider was deceased at the scene, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The HOV and No. 1 lane remain blocked for westbound lanes of the 210 freeway at the 605. |
