Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - Eight workers at a custom cabinet and finishing supplier are suffering from COVID-19, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recently reported. Four of the eight workers at Decore-ative Specialties, 4414 Azusa Canyon Rd., confirmed with COVID-19 are symptomatic, county public health officials said. Decore-ative Specialties offers RTA cabinets, doors, drawer fronts, moldings and more. The business has its main office in Monrovia, but has two locations in Irwindale, one in Northern California and one in North Carolina. According to the company’s website:
“As each day begins, we evaluate the COVID-19 situation and follow the advice from our leaders and health care experts. Our commitment remains steadfast as we provide a safe environment for our team members while servicing customers. “Based on qualifications established by our city, county, state, and federal officials, Decore-ative Specialties’ essential workforce is honored to remain open and serve the critical infrastructure sectors and their affiliates.” As the weeks go by, the county’s list of non-residential settings affected by COVID-19 has slowly increased. 18 businesses so far have sick employees. The county lists non-residential settings with five or more lab-confirmed or symptomatic persons with at least one lab-confirmed case. Nearly 38,000 Los Angeles County residents are infected with COVID-19 and more than 1,800 have died as of May 17, county health officials said. Persons age 65 and older remain the most vulnerable to the illness. County and state officials have relaxed some restrictions of the Safer at Home Order last week, allowing open beaches, recreational facilities and allow some retailers and manufacturers to offer curbside, door-side and outside pickup. People in Los Angeles County are still required to maintain a six-foot distance from each other and to wear a clean cloth covering over the mouth and nose. Specific high-risk businesses should remain closed. Public and private gatherings of any number of people outside a household are prohibited, county health officials said. |
