The crash occurred Saturday, June 18 at 3:18 a.m. in the 16000 block of East Arrow Highway near the Civic Commerce Center. The driver slammed into a corner of the building, destroying the windows and much of the office interior. “Officers contacted the driver of the pick-up truck at the scene, who miraculously was not injured in the collision. He was, however, found to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. Nicholas Anthony Hernandez, 26, was booked and eventually released on citation pending a court date, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The office was red-tagged for inspection. A big rig hauling 22,000 pounds of freight crashed into another large vehicle, possibly a garbage truck or street sweeper, just after 5 a.m. June 20. A wrecker tow truck has been called for the semi with major front end damage, according to the California Highway Patrol. Irwindale Police were called to investigate reports of impatient driver exiting the wrong way onto Arrow Highway. IRWINDALE – A 126-hour closure of the westbound 210 freeway in Irwindale is scheduled for mid-July, Caltrans announced recently.
